My daughter lives in west Texas and I in the Dallas area. We picked Abilene as a mid-point place to meet and visit. We had a two and a four year-old traveling with us as well as an adult with a recent brain injury, and we chose this hotel over others because we always expect hotels in the Choice Hotel Group to provide a clean space. She and the girls got there first and the room smelled of urine (possibly dog pee) and smoking, greasy stuff was all over the door and on mirrors on the closet door, plus the tile in the bathroom was not clean. My daughter talked to the front desk about her concerns and the young lady walked up and agreed that the room did have a smell. When they called the manager, that person was of no help and actually suggested that she might like to stay somewhere else if she wasn't happy with the room and there wasn’t an available room to change rooms. The town was booked due to college ball games and there was nowhere else to go. The head housekeeper came up and looked, and asked my daughter what she should do as if it were not obvious. She wiped down the greasy areas and the dirty tiles, and was about to leave when my daughter wanted the beds changed since she doubted the cleanliness. Once that was done, we decided to stay for the one night and try to find somewhere else for the second night. My daughter found a room at another hotel for the next night and she cancelled our stay for the next night at Sleep Inn. We tried to take the children to the pool, but it was closed for some reason which was not mentioned when she checked in, so we had a couple of disappointed pre-schoolers that day on top of the initial room condition. When we checked out, we were assured at the front desk that we would not be charged for the second night, which we were not. However, my daughter promptly got an extra $100 charge for the room. When she called to question why there was an extra charge, she was told that we either smoked or had a dog in the room...two of the very things that she had complained about when checking in. We did not have a dog, and when my daughter informed the manager of that, she then backpedaled on a dog being the cause and blamed it on smoking. She then flat out lied by saying that she had found “evidence” of smoking in the room, which she said was the smell of smoke and cigarette remnants in the room. She was told that this was absolutely impossible on our part since my daughter and two granddaughters are allergic to the smoke and it will trigger an asthma attack for me. She further informed the manager that if they found a cigarette it was from a previous guest, most certainly not us. My daughter informed her that my son smokes a tobacco pipe, but that he does it outside because of his consideration for the health of the children and us. The manager again backpedaled by saying it was tobacco they found. The ever changing story by the manager to fit her need to blame us for a hastily cleaned room and complaining about it shows a complete lack of integrity. We not only will not stay there again, we will choose lodging outside the Choice Hotel group and I have cancelled my Choice Rewards membership. We were not going to write a bad review when this happened, but simply avoid that place on monthly visits. Then the completely fabricated charges showed up, and the manager was rude as well as untruthful to my daughter in trying to resolve this. I wrote a review right after that, and the manager came back with the lie that she found evidence of smoking which was impossible from us, but then maybe they thoroughly cleaned the room after we left and finally found what wasn’t cleaned from previous guests. Do not stay in this place! If you do have to stay there, don’t complain or you may find yourself with false charges for complaining.

Automatic front doors and a drive up cover at the entrance is a must for us. This property has both. Keep yourself dry while unloading with full hands. We were in Room 303. A king size room with a sleeper sofa. All the amenities expected; mini refrigerator, microwave, coffee maker, etc. While we road travel, a mini refrigerator with a freezer section is a bonus and this one had it. The bed was comfortable, the shower head high enough for my husband, and plenty of mirrors. Only drawback, I like an exhaust fan in the toilet/shower area and this room didn't have one. It is not a deal breaker and we would definitely stay here again. The breakfast was as expected and the area kept clean. There is a Denny's across the freeway from this location.

Hotel is clean and staff is nice, but they don't in force their own rules. The breakfast itself, is good, but they only have 3 tables that sit 4 people and 3 tables that sit 2, in this large eating area and have people stand around and wait. Also, it was too bad some of the guests had their kids running around unsupervised. Playing with the gym equipment (one got hurt) and then, someone went in the pool, ruining it for everyone and these weren't toddlers but middle school age kids, they thought it was funny!

Great customer service received from the team! The room was lovely but the AC system needs improvement. This is a very convenient location. This makes it ideal for business trip. + free breakfast + free parking + good value

This place was so inviting. The kids and I had a wonderful night sleep, the room was clean, and the staff was friendly and professional. It is not too far off of the freeway. We stay in Choice Hotels across the nation. This is a good one.

This hotel was a perfect place to meet with family because it has suites available that are very nice and roomy, comfortable beds, clean rooms, plus it has great breakfast bar, and you can use the breakfast room after hours. Our 6 person group used it to play cards, talk, look at old pictures, etc. Very nice!

I knew that we would be driving to our destination and decided to make this town our stop the first night. So, I went online to see what was available at a good price. I did read the reviews and by paying ahead, I was able to get a fabulous price that included breakfast. That was a win-win in my book. Hotel was clean, staff was friendly and it met our needs perfectly. A great travel choice.

This hotel was very clean and quiet. The bed was super comfy. We had some very bad experiences with a few Choice hotels so our last 25+ hotels have been with a different "brand". We decided to try again at a Choice Hotel and this was it. The lady that checked us in was extremely nice and took it upon herself to upgrade us to a suite as we are diamond members. The room was spacious, clean, quiet and the bed was comfortable. We slept very well. The price was right, the attitude perfect, and we will be back! Can't comment on the breakfast as we leave before they start serving.

We stayed here to go to ACU Sing Song. I had brought myself and three teens. The room was nice. The staff super friendly. The price was great. We didn't hear any noise. Everything was nice and clean. I would definitely stay here for an ACU event again. It was super close to the campus.

I enjoy staying at this hotel when I am in Abilene. It is clean, modern, new, safe, easy to find, and always a great price. The breakfast is OK, nothing to write home about. Check-in was fast and I was very impressed with all of the staff.
