If you’re looking to make the relatively short hop from Calgary in Alberta to Vancouver in British Columbia, then you can find great flight deals with Orbitz. Use our search page to find and refine your flight options.
The most popular route for flights from Calgary to Vancouver takes off at Calgary International and lands at Vancouver International airport. There are just under 200 flights each week operating on this route, with four different carriers providing direct flight options.
Calgary only has one airport, which is the busiest in the province of Alberta and the fourth busiest in the whole of Canada. It serves as a hub for two major airlines, Air Canada and WestJet, but a choice of other airlines also fly in and out of the airport.
The flight time from Calgary to Vancouver is one hour and 20 minutes and covers a distance of 424 miles. While it is possible to drive between the two cities, this would take in excess of 10 hours, so a flight comes highly recommended if you need to save time or don’t want to spend too long behind the wheel.
The route takes off from Calgary and heads west towards the Pacific Ocean. Soon after take-off you will be flying above the beautiful Banff National Park. If you look out the window at this time you will be able to see snowy mountain peaks and, depending on the season, the huge ski resorts that can be found here.
Just before you come into land at Vancouver, you will pass through the southern edge of the Garibaldi Provincial Park, another place of outstanding natural beauty. As you make your descent into land, you will be able to enjoy some of the spectacular scenery on offer both here and out over Vancouver Island.
Calgary International Airport serves around 16 million passengers every year with direct flights to destinations around North and Central America, as well as Europe and Asia. It is connected to the city by the Deerfoot Trail freeway, as well as good public transport options.
Vancouver International Airport is located on Sea Island in Richmond, about 12 miles outside the city of Vancouver. It is the second busiest airport in Canada by aircraft movement and passenger numbers, dealing with around 25 million people each year.
It has won several notable airport awards, including the Skytrax Best North American Airport award for nine consecutive years between 2010 and 2018. It is also one of eight Canadian airports that have US Border Preclearance facilities.
Although Calgary to Vancouver is a relatively short flight there can be occasional turbulence due to the presence of mountainous areas in the flight path. However, this is usually very mild.
With a large number of direct flights each week from Calgary to Vancouver, you can find itineraries and flight deals that suit your timescale and budget with Orbitz.
