I enjoyed the amenities on the property, including the spa, pools, hot tubs, beach massages, free water bottles, entertainment and 24-hour sports bar. The food in the buffet was decent. The best tasting food was obviously the Dominican food at the buffet, which was expected. The sports bar had your usual bar food, but not many options other than chicken at night. The best of the 3 specialty restaurants was the steakhouse, in our opinion. We wished it was open each night. You do have to make a reservation when you arrive depending on which ones are open on the days you are there, but the restaurants are never really packed. The dinner wine options are not the greatest, but you get the option to buy a bottle of a better wine. For the all-inclusive drinks at the bars, we stuck with rum since they use real Brugal rum and everything else is off brand, and not very good. Otherwise, the property is beautiful and very clean and well kept. The beach is quiet and not super packed. We booked a junior suite and had no issues with our room. We watched housekeeping scrub rooms from top to bottom and that was very comforting. The stores are great for souvenirs and not super expensive, which makes it easy for you to not have to go off the resort. All in all, we had a great time and we would definitely go back.

We had a great time at Senator, the resort and beach is beautiful and you also get access to the resort next door Playabachata. We stayed in building 14, it was a good location but the rooms are outdated so I would recommend staying in a newer building. The food was good there was a lot of variety and always something to eat. We went to a la carte at the teppanyaki which was very good and and steakhouse, it was not our favourite. The entertainment team is amazing especially Super Felix, there is always something going on. There is an activities schedule, Pilates with Alex was a great way to start the day. Overall we had a great week at Senator!

Where do we start, food was terrible we were not able to get reservations for the a la carte. 15 visits to the front desk later (only because the buffet was inedible) we were able to get in to the stake house because there was a cancellation. While assuming we were being helped the girl tried to sign us up for a timeshare presentation, we told her we weren’t interested because it was my wife’s birthday, but it was a let down that we thought she was trying to help. The elevator wasn’t working and we had to move from 3rd floor to 2nd (no first floor available with ocean view), my wife had an injured foot so that definitely wasn’t great. The drinks were so bad and although all inclusive resorts make bad drinks this one was particularly awful, staff couldn’t make anything all they had was premixed pina colada and premixed red berry juice. I don’t think this is the staff s fault. I will honestly say the staff are what made it tolerable because most of them actually tried their best to be as accommodating as possible. We have gone to over 20 countries and stayed at plenty of hotels, this one is definitely not a 5 star hotel. The luxury suite was okay but besides that and the staff being kind, definitely not somewhere we would stay again.

Absolutely gorgeous architecture and design. It’s beautiful to walk the area and grounds and it’s very safe and clean. Although the staff are very helpful, there is no beach or pool service and finding a chair past 5am is impossible. That’s an easy problem to fix, but I’ve seen dozens of reviews and apparently the management isn’t interested in remedying this minor issue that dramatically impacts the quality of the experience. Also, the water in the rooms is cold only. On one day, I had lukewarm water in the shower and it felt like heaven.
