Not particularly great
Booked for leisure facilities - dirty and long overdue a deep clean. Also booked because they offer free room upgrades to Gold members. I booked the room on the app with two tiers of upgrades available and checked in 25 mins later on a Friday evening. I asked for the upgrade, was told they had none available, so challenged this. Receptionist then went on the computer whilst I tried to log on to the Wi-Fi as out of reception and when I refreshed the page, the upgrades were no longer showing on the app…. Dated rooms. Creaking floors in old building. Wouldn’t serve us dinner as ‘fully booked’ but only two extra covers and arrived about 6:30pm. Fortunately we had a lovely dinner out

First room was dirty, toilet hadn't been cleaned. Remains of last person opening their bowls on inside of toilet. Second room dirty. Bed was uncomfortable, dipped in middle and you could feel the springs. Worst hotel ive ever stayed in.

A nice stay
We had a very nice stay for one night. We would definitely come again. The breakfast was excellent, relaxed, with very good service. The room was a little bit tired and the lighting somewhat too dim for our elderly eyes. And the TV remote could not make the TV work so we resorted to the buttons on the base of the screen. The sky box was fine.

The area is quiet and lovely. The breakast was good. The leisure centre is lovely. Bed was a bit too soft for my husband and I as we are use to a firm mattress. Our room was ok but some of the wallpapers needs tapping up. The hotel overall needs some updating.

The pool facilities were great. The breakfast felt a little bit disappointing - the cooked breakfast was lovely, and nice berries with yogurt, but there was no pastries, pancakes etc so the children were disappointed. Bedrooms were a good size and very comfortable.

Nice hotel but needs updating a little.
Like many Hotels of this type it could do with a freshen up, but overall it is warm and welcoming. Actually a bit too warm ! We could not turn the radiators in the room off and we found it overly warm and had to keep a window open. The room was very spacious with all usual facilities, including a Gideon Bible, thank You. The bed however was disappointing. It was supposed to be a double but was actually two singles pushed together. Breakfast was traditional English with cereals and toast etc. Staff where very good despite being busy. I have to point out that the 'chimney breast' near the toast maker was very dusty. O, and there was a 'Tree' growing out of a wall ! 🤔

Disappointed.
Was told the room I booked, 'Manor with garden view', was not available after paying extra for one, but it was a nice size. Food in restaurant for dinner was unpleasant, overcooked batter on fish and buttermilk chicken, although breakfast was very nice. My husband's side of the bed was broken. He said it was like sleeping in a hammock, which was uncomfortable for him as he's waiting for a knee replacement. Hotel in need of a complete refurb, shabby. Staff okay, nothing special.
