Dozens of direct and connecting flights depart from New York every day with passengers bound for Tel Aviv, Israel. Orbitz.com can help find the best airfare to meet your budget when you're traveling from New York to Tel Aviv.
Not only is New York City the largest and busiest metropolitan area in the United States, but it is also home to one of the largest Jewish populations in North America. Three airports serve New York passengers: JFK International Airport, LaGuardia Airport and Newark Liberty International Airport.
JFK and LaGuardia are located in the New York borough of Queens and are easily accessible from Manhattan via train, subway and bus connections. JFK is the largest international gateway for travelers on the East Coast. LaGuardia is limited to travel within 1,500 miles of the airport and offers connecting service through other East Coast hubs to reach Tel Aviv. Both airports feature thousands of short and long-term parking spaces, which are easily accessible via the terminals. Cabs offer flat fares from Manhattan to JFK and LaGuardia airports, typically under $50 each way.
Newark Liberty International Airport is located just across the Hudson River in Newark, New Jersey. Newark offers several daily nonstop flights to Tel Aviv, as well as many connecting opportunities. Like JFK and LaGuardia, Newark is operated by the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey. Tel Aviv is the second busiest international route departing from Newark. AirTrain and New Jersey Transit buses connect passengers throughout northern New Jersey and New York City.
The second largest metropolitan city in Israel, Tel Aviv shares a tagline with New York City: "the city that never sleeps." In fact, Tel Aviv has many similarities to New York City, acting as home to the Tel Aviv Stock Exchange, ranking just behind New York as a popular city to visit and serving as an international gateway to its country.
Ben Gurion is the primary airport for travelers from New York to Tel Aviv. The airport is located in the neighboring town of Lod, just twelve miles east of Tel Aviv's city center. Air travel routes from New York to Tel Aviv began in 1946. They continue to be the most popular international routes served by Ben Gurion. Three terminals serve the more than 13 million passengers per year, who enter Israel through Ben Gurion. Local rail and bus service connects the airport to the city of Tel Aviv and surrounding areas. Car rental services are available at the airport, and taxis easily transport travelers from the airport into town.
Tel Aviv experiences a Mediterranean climate hallmarked by humid summers and rainy winters. Average temperatures in winter months range from 48 to 63 degrees Fahrenheit. In the summer, average temperatures range from 75 to 86 degrees Fahrenheit. Tel Aviv receives almost no rain during the summer but averages up to 20 inches of rain throughout the winter.
Tel Aviv is one of the most popular tourist destinations in the Middle East and offers visitors a wide variety of museums, sporting events, cultural attractions and nightlife opportunities. Foodies love Tel Aviv for the hundreds of restaurants serving authentic international cuisine. Home to the famous Eretz Israel Museum and the Tel Aviv Museum of Art, Tel Aviv also offers dozens of smaller museums dedicated to everything from the Jewish diaspora to Israeli military history. Located on the coast, Tel Aviv is also a popular beach destination.
Like New York City, visitors to Tel Aviv often find time running out before they have a chance to see everything the city has to offer. Orbitz.com has a Tel Aviv travel planner guide available to make your international travel planning easier and to ensure that your journey is successful.
