Travel from Hong Kong to Bangkok

Although Hong Kong and Bangkok are both international cities, the well-organized city of Hong Kong contrasts sharply with the playful mishmash of culture that defines Bangkok. To experience the city for yourself, try Orbitz.com to find flights from Hong Kong to Bangkok.

Flying out of Hong Kong

Travelers can fly out of the Hong Kong International Airport, which is only twenty miles from Hong Kong's downtown area. To get to the airport, you can use the local bus system or hail a taxi. You can also use the Airport Express train, which gets you to the airport from central Hong Kong in twenty-four minutes. Hourly, daily, and monthly parking is available at the airport. However, with rates starting at $18 per hour, $144 per day, or $1700 per month, you may want to leave your car at home.

Enjoying Bangkok

Although there are two airports in Bangkok, the newer Suvarnabhumi Airport handles all international air travel, while Don Mueang Airport has mostly domestic flights. Located about twenty miles east of the city, Suvarnabhumi has a large shuttle bus service to take you to your car rental, the public bus terminal, or the long-term parking lot. You can also take a taxi, but be prepared for the 50-bhat airport surcharge. No matter how you get to Bangkok, be prepared for traffic and schedule approximately an hour to get to your hotel. Weather in Bangkok can be tough to predict due to its tropical location, but traditionally the monsoon season begins in May through July and ends in November. The dry period, from November through May, offers the best weather, but you can still expect high humidity and average high temperatures ranging from the high 80s to low 90s. When you get to Bangkok, take some time to walk through the city and enjoy the many types of street food available. When the sun sets, take the BTS sky train to Th Sukhumvit to experience the local nightlife. Also consider visiting the Damnoen Saduak floating market, The Temple of Dawn, and Khao San Road to better understand Bangkok's multifaceted culture.
