Suvarnabhumi Airport is located 16 miles from downtown Bangkok. It has four levels, with levels 1 and 2 used for departing passengers. The ground level is for shuttle and private buses, as well as ATTA buses and cars. The second level has space for express shuttles and limousines, and there is an area for private vehicles that just need to drop a passenger off and leave. Another transportation option is the Suvarnabhumi Airport Rail Link, a rail shuttle designed specifically to get travelers to and from the airport in quick fashion.
Chiang Mai International Airport is one of the busiest airports in Thailand and is a hub for the northern part of the country. You can arrange for transportation on the first floor near the baggage claim area. There are many auto rickshaws, called tuk-tuks, waiting to take passengers into the city for around 120 baht, with the return trip when you leave costing just 50 baht. There are also limousine and car rentals available should a tuk-tuk not fit your needs. Bask in the warm temperatures in Chiang Mai every month of the year. The coldest month is December, when the mercury still reaches a balmy 82 degrees Fahrenheit. Enjoy the Thai food in Chiang Mai, and then take a popular cookery class to learn how to make it yourself. The various elephant parks and farms are a huge attraction, where customers can see these majestic creatures up close.
Though both are located in Thailand, Bangkok and Chiang Mai are different cities with something for everyone. Save money on travel from Bangkok to Chiang Mai by booking a low-fare flight on Orbitz.com.
