Excellent staff & the hotel is exceptional - just one minor suggestion, I was in room in the refurbished Roman House wing & near where the cookery school classes take place - the bedroom was excellent - spacious & extremely comfortable - but there was a cooking smell in the room from the classes taking place - maybe those rooms should have some kind of air freshener provided in the room, but a minor point - the hotel was wonderful - excellent location & helpful, friendly staff

A great experience! I booked this for my fiancée’s birthday as a surprise and we weren’t disappointed. Beautiful building with the special feeling. Car park was a few minutes walk away if you don’t want valet parking, you do get a discount from the hotel for your stay though. Rooms were good however we had a rattle old window which I had to stuff a piece of card on to silence. Plus it was very cold in the night due to the heating only blowing cold. Breakfast was to die for, plenty of selection and service was really good. All in all a great location and stunning hotel for a stay in York.

Hotel was lovely, but there was significant construction noise I was not aware of until I received an email shortly before we checked in advising of same. If I had known I would have asked for a different room. Also, some of the facility was closed.
