8/10 Good

The hotel is in a great location...on the western side of the station away from all the commotion and business of the east side. It is extremely quiet, and exceptionally clean. The rooms have a very simple, almost Zen aesthetic that I found to be comfortable overall. I was in room 309. While I did not mind the lack of TV or radio or wall decorations, I did find the room lighting to be very insufficient. In the sleeping area there were only two small ceiling lights below the foot of the bed. I had to borrow a lamp from the front desk to be able to read at night. There are also no dressers or other furniture in the room aside from a desk built into a wall with a nice view overlooking a quiet neighborhood. Another surprise was that although a small electric pot is supplied to heat water, guests must buy tea bags from the front desk.
The front desk staff was excellent, and they provided extremely good service when I left two jackets in the room. When I realized at my next destination (Nagoya) that my jackets were back in my Kamakura bathroom, the hotel staff packed it and sent it by overnight delivery to my Nagoya hotel, with a total fee of only 940 yen. Amazing.
