When we entered the resident, there was half full trash can. There was urine and toilet paper in the toilet. All the appliances were streaked from attempted cleaning. The backyard was a mess. Kids couldn't play back there. All toys look like they were never cleaned.

There was no running water, the dishes were caked in stuff, there was a hole in the bathroom ceiling, and the TV was broken. I tried to contact the host multiple times and didn’t get a single response.

Pros of our stay. Dog friendly and convenient to our loved ones we were visiting. Neighborhood was quiet and easy to navigate. House was definitely big enough for our family of 4. Cons of our stay. The house has a terrible smell, like mildew. The DIY makeover on the house was definitely lacking a professionals touch. The fence around the yard has a gap in the gate and a hole. We blocked those with some of the outdoor toys in the backyard. The stovetop and fridge were poorly cleaned, there were still items in the fridge from the last guest. There was no bedding other than pillows on the master bed. I’m assuming they were the items left in the washer and dryer. The back yard was cluttered with old toddler toys and some personal items like shoes were also there. Gave us the impression that maybe someone lived there pretty frequently when not being rented or it definitely doesn’t get properly cleaned. The home served it’s purpose, it was just below our expectations. Not sure if we would stay again.

The kitchen is unorganized, not enough plates or silverware. Stove didn't work well. Railing on deck unfinished and dangerous for children. Stagnant dirty slimy water in items outside. Stairway to enter home is VERY hazardous. Definitely NOT senior citizen friendly. Yard was 12" tall in front. Would not recommend or ever stay again. Needs to be removed from listing until renovation and clean up is finished!!

Cozy old style house in Newton

The house was perfect for my friends and I to stay in the night before my wedding. Slept 10 of us comfortably with an air mattress brought along. There is only one bathroom so that was a task in itself but it was a nice place.

The descriptions, and the house are exactly as described. The neighborhood is quiet and most conveniences are a really short drive away.Myranda was quick to respond to any questions we had and easy to work with for check in. Her detailed descriptions of how things in the house work were perfect.The kitchen is well stocked with whatever you might have forgotten. The main bathroom has a shower that you won't want to get out of. It's not a huge house, but the way it's arranged, it really has an open, relaxed feel to it. The subtle Christian references were spot on and made my family feel at home. Bottom line, if you're wanting a conveniently located, quiet, relaxing place to stay in Newton, you found it in this listing. Should life bring us back to the area again, we will be renting this house again.
