The staff was one of the friendliest/most welcoming I’ve encountered. They were all so helpful and kind. My Maltese balcony was a dream, and the location was right in the heart of the hustle and bustle, which was mostly good — and any negative of that had absolutely nothing to do with the property. I would definitely recommend.

Easy walk to main area of Valletta and the ferry to the other side. Bus station is about a 10 minute walk. The street is closed to cars, so an uber or taxi will have to drop/pick-up at the bottom of the hill. Our room was large and the bed comfortable. Not a noisy area, so sleeping was easy. Breakfast is at the restaurant next door and was a choice of menu items. I would definitely stay again.

The location of the Cumberland was really amazing. Right in the middle of the action of Valletta with close access to many restaurants, attractions like St.John’s Cathedral, Upper Barrakka Gardens, the famous St.Lucia street for alfresco dining, the waterfront & museums. SPAR the grocery store was just down the same street - which enabled us to get snacks, water, etc. We enjoyed staying in our suite with an upper loft portion. The main bus terminal is also a doable walk of about 10 minutes for bus access to Mdina. Both ferry terminals to Sliema & the 3 Cities were also within reasonable walking distance. We definitely would recommend a stay here if you are looking for a boutique style hotel centrally located.

Well done Hotel Cumberland!

We had an excellent stay at the Cumberland Hotel and found it offered high standards in all areas, including reception, room cleanliness and facilities, and a varied and delicious breakfast. We found all the staff to be extremely welcoming and friendly and were highly impressed by the speed in which a problem with a loose tap in our bathroom was dealt with. The hotel is located in a very central location in the beautiful city of Valletta and we really miss hearing the bells of St John's Cathedral close by. Our only suggestion for improvement would be the addition of sun parasols for seating on the roof terrace as the high temperatures prevented any possibility of relaxing there for more than a few minutes. An all round most enjoyable stay though.

No outdoor window, no natural light

The room is clean and spacious but no natural light, window facing the corridor and people can clearly see you! Shat tis been mentioned at the time of booking it wouldn't be as bad but no mention at all.

This property is on a walking street. It's super cute and super convenient to all that Valletta has to offer. That said, I booked a room with two beds. Because the hotel did not get the reservation correct, I was not able to check in for an additional hour--highly annoying.

Was a wonderful stay with great staff. Breakfast had a great selection and hours were convenient. Only negative was out room faces the street and the noise was loud until about midnight. Used an e-cab to get to the ferry, which was the only downside to the entire trip. He demanded exact change. Really, no CC and could not make change.

Lovely stay for my partners birthday. The rooftop jacuzzi was a nice touch. Breakfast options were good. Quite noisy overnight from within the hotel itself. Room was a street facing room, but most of the noise came from things being moved around in the stairwell.
