Comfortable stay at Upington
We were disappointed not to find an evening meal. But Protea was fairly close and the food was good.
We slept comfortably and the buffet breakfast was excellent.

Spacious 3 star budget hotel
The owner of River City in is also the owner of the Protea hotels. The hotel is misleading in its name as it is one block away from the river and has no river views. On saying this, the rooms were very large and a value for money 3 star Hotel.
Positives: Large room, large shower, flat screen TV, capsule coffee machine in room, air con and comfortable beds. Good Breakfast
Negatives: Wi-Fi need to get from generated code reception and only 250mb per 24 hours. No lifts and if you are street based can be a bit noisy. Also noted Breakfast finishes at 09h30 and from 09h00 there was little picking left and had to ask for everything.

Communication lacking!
Because the hotel was quiet they decided to serve our breakfast in our room. No problem with that BUT if we had been informed we would have said "no cooked breakfast for us please" So 2 plates of food wasted!
