Great Location

This house is a great location to all local ski resorts. There was great sledding to be had on the side yard for the young ones. It is a great size house for our group of 14. However the living room set up is different than shown in the picture and did not seat as many as we hoped. We also found several of the the outlets and lighting fixtures were not working. Overall, with that said would stay here again.

Excellent communication with host

The place is huge and we loved the overall location of the place as well. We were able to communicate with the host throughout the stay. There were a few appliance hiccups but we were able to sort it out and eventually things were back online. If it weren't for those hiccups it would have been 5 stars for sure. Towels were provided! Some of the kitchen disposables (paper towels, foil, etc) you would have to procure before arriving.

Location is great. Communication is great.

We had some issues because of the insane amount of snow that fell this year in Tahoe Donner. The owner was great to work with, he helped us out and was very responsive to our needs.

Cozy cabin

This is our second time at the cabin. We love it! It’s perfect for our group of 13. We didn’t have to leave the property-we played in the snow, watched movies and relaxed. Can’t wait to return next year

Manage expectations so as not to be disappointed

We had specific needs for our rental property due to the size and make-up of our party and a disability: This property promised to have everything we needed and wanted and we were happy to pay the rather high weekly rent for what appeared to be an incredible place for our family reunion. Within a matter of hours we realised that this rental property was not what had been promised to us due to the following: 1/ house was clean on surface only. The advert states that the house is “Cleaned with disinfectant… All towels and bedding washed in hot water that’s at least 60ºC/140ºF High-touch surfaces cleaned with disinfectant (like countertops, light switches, handles, and faucets)” I can categorically say that the comforters had not been washed (covers cannot be removed and they did not smell or look clean), high touch areas were not cleaned nor disinfected. There were smeary fingerprints on all light switches and doorknobs. Drawers in the second bathroom had people’s hair and other bits in them, cabinets, draws and cupboards in the kitchen had not been cleaned for quite some time. 2/ the house was ill equipped for the amount of people rented to, difficult to set a dinner table with matching place settings, not to mention 2 wine glasses for 12 adults, 3/ house was cluttered with owners stuff in most wardrobes and mess 4/ 6th bedroom is a glorified wardrobe with no windows and broken bed. 5/ one set of sheets had disgusting recent bodily fluids on them, clearly not washed 6/ most of the beds were not fitted with mattress protectors and only a sheet to separate sleepers from stained mattresses. Where provided they were dirty and NOT cleaned between renters. 7/ maintenance of the house was poor 8/ extra blow up beds as advertised, were all punctured (all 3 of them) 9/ promised games were incomplete and could not be played with I flagged issues to the owners and their response was that I was focusing on minor cosmetic issues. Having a wardrobe door fall on me, dirty linen, dirty surfaces, poor maintenance, curtains coming off the railings, dirt and mess in most draws and wardrobes, extra blow up beds unusable and other issues should not be considered as cosmetic! Owners did offer for us to move out, which was impracticable and simply not a solution. This house could have it all and is beautiful in itself, but sadly was not as advertised. Manage your expectations so as not to be disappointed.

Ideal for family vacay

The house was ideal for our family vacation. The location and size were perfect. The three decks were great and enabled our crew to enjoy the stunning location on their own terms (sometimes you need to get away from the kids). The only negative was some basic maintenance (carpet damage that exposed tacks, faulty electrical outlets, faucet handles that kept falling off). But those were minor compared to the many advantages that at the home offered. We rented during the summer, so we were able to explore the area around the house. Unfortunately, it appears many renters have partied on the decks and the area below the house was littered with empty beer bottles (many of which were broken). Because our kids were going to be playing in that area, we spent some time cleaning up the area and removing as much of the broken glass as we could. My guess is that much of the littering happened during the winter and was covered by snow. Must've been some fun parties, I suppose. Nonetheless, I can honestly say that this Vrbo rental definitely added to the enjoyment of our vacation, and I would recommend it to any family/group seeking a quality accommodation.

Great home - spacious and comfortable for large groups

My friends and I had a great time staying at Nikki's home. It was very spacious, and provided plenty of space for my friends and I. The living room had plenty of space for everyone to gather and hangout, which was perfect for watching GoPro footage at the end of the day. Nikki was very responsive, and I had no issues getting questions answered. Highly recommend the cabin and host!

Thanksgiving

This was a great place for a large group of people. We had 15 people at one point, and never felt we were on top of each other. The game room downstairs keep the teenagers busy most of the time. The hot tub was a little over treated, but with the tub in the main bedroom made it better for the littler kids enjoy. We were able to park 2 smaller suvs in the garage and had 2 large trucks and another vehicle in driveway with no problem. Lots of cooking utensils in the kitchen made cooking real easy. There was lots of extra towels and bedding.

A Great Stay in Truckee

I recently stayed at this property with a group of friends for a ski weekend at Squaw. The property was perfect for our group and was exactly as described. There were comfortable beds for everyone, plenty of space in the living room, and the location was great! Check in and check out were very simple and the owner was very responsive when we had any questions. I would highly recommend this place for your next stay in Truckee!

Big and cozy!

This property is perfect for a large group - lot of bedrooms, very comfortable couches, and even some additional blow up mattresses. The common space is huge and we loved the high ceilings and cabin feel. The Sonos audio system and 8-person hot tub are game changers. The home was clean when we arrived and is well maintained. Seamless check in/out process and the owner, Nikki, was easy to reach. My friends and I live in San Francisco and we travel to Tahoe frequently during ski season. Of all the places we've stayed, this one is the best. We look forward to staying here again!
