Not quite a Mimaru experience...

During our 14-day trip to Tokyo and Osaka, we exclusively stayed at Mimaru-affiliated accommodations. While most of our stays were excellent, our final two nights at the Mimaru in Ueno were deeply disappointing compared to our experiences at Mimaru Tokyo Station East and Mimaru Osaka Shinsaibashi. From the moment we arrived, I had a gut feeling this location wouldn’t meet the standards of the others. The entryway and check-in area were cramped and lacked the inviting atmosphere we had come to expect from Mimaru properties. Adding to the negative first impression, there was an unpleasant smell lingering in the main hallway. As we exited the elevator to reach our assigned room, my concerns were confirmed—the hotel seemed poorly maintained. Dust had accumulated in the corners of the hallway doors, and the overall cleanliness left much to be desired. Entering our room only reinforced this feeling. The dark charcoal gray carpet was visibly dusty, with white specks scattered in the corners. The bathroom vent appeared neglected, with months of buildup, and the sink had noticeable residue around the faucet. We had booked a Japanese-style room and needed to set up the futon beds ourselves. Unfortunately, the futons were thin and poorly cleaned, with hair and dust visible on the undersides. The overall state of the room felt unclean and unwelcoming, leading to a truly unpleasant experience In summary, our stay at Mimaru Ueno fell far short of the standards set by other Mimaru locat

The room was a good size for our family of 4 and we liked that the toilet, shower and sink were in separate spaces. Had a small kitchenette which was helpful. Staff was friendly and location was good. The only complaint was the washer/dryer combo didn’t work. Spent a lot of time waiting for the clothes not to dry…would not recommend using their laundry.

Great hotel, great location.

We had a wonderful stay at this hotel. It's easy to reach from Ueno station. The check in was fast, with all the necessary information given. The room was spacious and comfortable for a family of 3. It is nicely decorated and has a well equipped kitchen featuring a good sized fridge. The staff were friendly and helpful. Look forward to visiting again.

BOOK IT!! This property is amazing for family and kids. I thought booking a luxury hotel will make our stay comfortable but this aparthotel is incredible. Everything we need for our 1 year old was available. Baby crib, baby bath, bottle Sterilizer, baby shampoo, baby seat, you name it they have it! They also rent strollers for $15/day and it was so convenient. The front desk GINA was so lovely and hospitable and made our stay so warm and incredible. We can’t wait to come back and share with our friends to book here! 10/10

Incredible stay. We stayed five nights with our 10 month old baby, they provided everything we needed for a comfortable stay. Super quiet hotel, quiet but convenient neighborhood, so close to convenience stores and grocery, super close to the subway, front desk staff were truly a delight, would absolutely stay here again.

Very helpful and friendly staff! Great amenities in the room - we especially loved having a kitchen. Excellent location near train stations, grocery store, Ueno Park, as well as Asakusa within walking distance. It's a great home base for a few days of exploring.

We are a family of five initially we were shocked how all five of us would sleep but we read reviews about Tokyo and knew what to expect. The people at the hotel were fantastic super nice and polite always helpful. I would recommend this place for anyone.
