Wow! The spectacular view at sunset, the serene location, the large deep pool, the soft comfortable beds and bedrooms, the air con, the host were all absolutely fantastic. 8 of us for a week in 36c heat and it was stunning. We had a terrific time exploring the local area and wider region. Gian (host) you did a great job. We look forward to coming back soon.

Beautiful Villa

What a trip! Gian (the host) was extremely helpful, our luggage was left behind at a different airport, Gian was extremely understanding about our delay and even arranged some food for us! He was always available to call and made our stay fantastic. The villa itself was stunning, lovely panoramic views of the area and very private without being in the middle of nowhere. The house was split into various apartments however we only used the bottom floor, which was more than enough. The kitchen was better than our own, everything was beautifully furnished and comfortable (especially the pool!). The garden was huge with lots of seating area, lawn etc and we never had any issues. Thank you so much for a wonderful time Gian!

Amazing Home. Amazing Host

We have stayed in many homes through Vrbo, and I can honestly say that this was one of the most amazing places we have ever stayed. The location is perfect if you want to explore the Umbria region. But this house is so great we could stayed and cooked and enjoyed ourselves just as much. The kitchen is fully equipped, and we were able to prepare a nice big dinner for all of us. Gian, the host could not have been more accommodating. He met us in town for the initial drive to the villa, which is tricky, but once you get there you can pin it on Maps. The villa is high, and overlooks the Umbrian countryside. The view is fantastic. The house is very clean and slept seven of us more than comfortably. Gian brought us wood for the fireplace and made sure we were stocked up. He is very easy to reach and responds almost immediately. We honestly hated to leave and we vowed to come back for a month next time. If you’re driving a bigger vehicle, the drive to the villa can be intimidating the first time. But is is very doable. I had a seven passenger van, and we were fine. I cannot say enough about Gian, the host. He is warm and friendly, funny and helpful. He even show us how to find wild asparagus. This is the best home we have ever stayed at. We will definitely be back

Hase Family Sibling Reunion

We were 7 adults all over 50 years old. There were ample bedrooms and baths. We used the villa primarily as a base to get out and see Umbria, e.g., Todi, Spoleto, Spello, Assisi, Montefalco, Orvieto. The villa is much too nice just to be used as a base, it has great views on a large, beautiful property with many sitting and lying possibilities. Gian is the best host possible, always ready to assist, advise, recommend, AND available. A great place and a wonderful host.

Siblings Get Together

This was a sibling w/spouses get together. We spent a week at the place. Very comfortable with rooms as promised;3 in the main floor with one upstairs and on separated from the house. Had all that you needed. Had porch off main living area for dining and couches for relaxing. Shoppping in town was 6 minutes away. Host was excellent very welcoming and friendly. I would stay here again. Host provided his contact info and responded quickly to our questions. Rated as 5 star would rate higher if possible both for host and property.

Beyond our expectations

Everything about this villa is exceptional…great location, beautiful views, fantastic host, so much to see & do or just stay at the villa & enjoy the pool. Gian’s recommendations for restaurants, wineries & experiences were all amazing. Todi, Orvieto & Montefalco were highlights for our group. We even loved our almost daily visits to the nearby supermarket :) Gian went above & beyond to make our stay a memorable experience. I would thoroughly recommend his villa ; some of us even hope to return.

Fairytale Stay

Absolutely gorgeous property which had us feeling like we were in a fairytale. I’m surprised the birds and squirrels didn’t come in and help me make my bed each day. The views are stunning and the peaceful surroundings are so relaxing. We had chefs for breakfast and dinner - HIGHLY RECOMMEND!!!! Gian is helpful and knowledgeable and really puts effort into making sure the stay and the home are top notch. Thank you, Gian! We are just driving away and I miss it already.

A magical, wonderful villa!

How can we say enough about this wonderful property and amazing host? For my husband and myself, it was our second stay at Gian's house, and we wanted to share the experience with friends. It did not disappoint! The three couples each had a very private area of the house with one couple in the master suite, one upstairs with their kitchenette, and the other in the pool house. The kitchen is very well equipped and we enjoyed making breakfasts and dinners several nights (including some homemade pasta) while enjoying our evenings on the patio and around the pool. Gian is so welcoming to his guests, joining us for the Onion Festival in a nearby town and taking us to a favorite restaurant at the top of the mountain. He also helped us book a wine tour and private chef at the house. Don't miss out on this fantastic way to experience Umbria and all of the beauty and history of the area!

Umbrian tranquility

A really lovely villa that was well equipped in a beautiful location with unspoilt views. The air con was a lovely edition during the hot nights. Great area for exploring the rest of Umbria..Todi, Assisi, Perugia, Spoleto, all worth a visit. Would definitely recommend.

Fantastic experience

The villa is great! There is enough space for everyone, the rooms and beds are large and clean, each room has a bathroom! Fully functional kitchen with everything you need and a fantastic garden with large pool! The highlight is Gian the host who goes above and beyond to make your stay extremely comfortable and pleasant. He has some awesome recommendations for trips, restaurants, things to do etc and is constantly busy making bookings and making sure everything is taken care of. One thing I highly recommend is to get a chef to cook for you. The local food is fantastic and seeing (and learning if you like from) a professional chef is absolutely worth it. If you're looking to go to Umbria and this villa is available don't wait any longer and make the booking now, you will not regret it!

Beautiful property and fabulous Gian!

This is a wonderful property- very spacious and beautiful. But perhaps the highlight was the special experiences suggested and arranged by Gian. He arranged a wonderful winetasting and tour, suggested great restaurants and was very available for every need. The chef he arranged (Daniele) was amazing, and I cannot even describe the experiential meal we had "on top of the Mountain" - Cheese, meats, Bruschetta, the Best homemade bread, 2 pastas, Lamb, Potatoes, vegetables, lots of wine, limoncello and grappa...all for 35 Euros a person! Trust Gian's every suggestion!

Fabulous Find in Umbria

We just completed the most idyllic stay at this spectacular property near Todi. The views are stunning in every direction. The house itself is so comfortable for families, friends, or couples. The bedrooms are spacious and separated, allowing privacy for all guests, but there are lots of gathering spots inside and outside to hang out together. The kitchen is fully equipped and more, lending itself to creating wonderful group meals. One night we had Daniele, a private chef, come and cook a marvelous meal, teaching us along the way. Even in October, we were able to take divine swims in the large and perfectly situated pool! Best of all, as others have said, is the owner himself…Gian Cappelli. He made our trip very special from beginning to end, providing easy and quick communication during the booking process, and wonderful suggestions for meals and activities. He even accompanied us on a wild ride to a mountaintop restaurant that served excellent local cuisine in a warm and wonderful environment. We had a terrific week and highly recommend this property. If you have the opportunity, just do it!

Sibling adventure in Italy!

Our experience in Todi at Gian’s villa was incredible. The views of the valley were spectacular from every vantage point. Our accommodations fit perfectly with our group. Gian was so welcoming. He accompanied us on visits to the surrounding cities and was quite knowledgeable about the history and character of the area. He made dinner reservations for our group of 10 and those restaurants did not disappoint! Wonderful food and ambiance at each. He set up a dinner at the villa with a personal chef who allowed us to assist with the meal preparation including homemade pasta, which was quite a treat. I would absolutely recommend a visit to Gian’s villa in Umbria. A beautiful country and an amazing host.

Wonderful villa with gracious host

This villa deserves more than five stars as we had a fantastic time during our stay, thanks to Gian, the property owner. First, the views of Umbria from the large property are breath taking. Each morning we would go to the patio on the second floor and have a cup of coffee while watching the sun rise. Then we would go the backyard and watch as the sun hit the hills and villages. So very pretty. Very convenient location to see the many towns and villages of Umbria. The house has everything you need - well stocked with an added plus of a welcome package of coffee, cream and jam. But what made our trip extra special was Gian’s guidance and recommendations as to what to see and what restaurants to visit. He even took us to the wine tasting festival in Montefalco and the onion festival in Cannera and explained local traditions to us. We would never have maneuvered our way to these places were it not for him. His schedule allowed him to join us for dinner at a restaurant on a mountain top which was a fun adventure as we ran into wild horses and lots of cows...and the food was wonderful, cooked by Gians longtime friend. Finally gian arranged for a chef to come to villa for cooking class and we ate five course meal. We very very highly recommend this property as it provided us a wonderful vacation, one that we won’t ever forget!!

Umbria at its best

the Villa is superbly located with a 360 view of the area. Todi, Orvieto and Perugia, cities with a fascinating history dating from Etruscan times, are nearby. The place lends it self to relax, chill and cook Italian food (the kitchen is well equiped). We had a wonderful week here. The owner was every so helpful in advising and making us feel welcome. We even had an aperotive together in Todi, watching the cathedral.

Loved It!

This is an absolutely gorgeous, well-equipped home, with the most beautiful views imaginable! It has easy access to the main roads and is therefore is a great location for traveling to all of the beautiful Umbrian towns—Todi, Orvieto, Assissi, Perugia, Spoleto, Montefalco, Civita di Bagnoreggio, Bevagna, and more. We also took easy day trips to Firenze, Arezzo and Siena in Tuscany. We stayed for one month which gave us time to take full advantage of the lovely pool and accommodations as well as travel around the area. The layout of the rooms provides a lot of options for privacy and guests to hang out inside and out. We didn't need any AC until the last couple of days of our trip because of the thick stone walls and nice breezes, but the AC works well if you need it! Gian is fabulous as you probably already know from other reviews. I told him I wouldn't say too much about him here, but it is so nice to have a new friend in Italy!! He has so many great suggestions and connections and is really helpful when you run into issues like a flat tire, or need help understanding how things work from an insiders point of view. So . . . I hope I'll be back. Best vaycay ever!!

Words cannot describe our time in Umbria at this villa!

The villa is beautiful. We had three couples, but the property could handle five couples. The views are stunning. The best part of our stay was our experience with the host Gian. Gian provided us with an exceptional introduction to Umbria. His homegrown knowledge was generously provided and very helpful. He was as genuine and caring as a host could possibly be. His passion for the Umbria countryside, his villa, his friends and food was contagious! He was always willing to help, but was never intrusive. Gian invited us for a tasting at his winery coop where we found excellent white and red wines, and he shared his delicious olive oil with us. He arranged restaurant reservations including a fabulous place on a mountaintop. We would never have found this restaurant on our own. He recommended tours, local festivals, sites to see and villages to visit. One particular highlight was the cooking class with Marta and Gian. What fun! We have wonderful memories of this evening. This was our first visit to Umbria, but it won’t be our last. And we will come back to this villa. Thank you Gian!

What a wonderful stay!!

We were wowed at first sight with the house’s setting, perched high on a hill with 360’ views of the Umbrian countryside and magical Todi in the distance. The house itself is wonderfully laid out for big families or groups, with separate, private living spaces that also include an upstairs apartment and a poolside cottage. Our family has stayed in HomeAway and Airbnb homes all over the globe and we have never had such a well-equipped kitchen. There's every appliance you could wish for, including an ice maker. And the best part, it came with a cook! Gian arranged for his chef friend to give us a little cooking class, and Gian and his friend prepared homemade Italian pasta -- our favorite of the entire trip -- and taught us how to make fireside bruschetta. Unforgettable! All while we relaxed with family over wine, feeling so at home. But by far the most wonderful part of our stay at Torre del Mago was getting to know Gian. Most web rentals are just that -- web rentals. This was totally different. Gian was the most warm and generous host we’ve ever encountered. From arranging for a home- cooked meal, to giving us a tour of the nearby town of Montefalco, to his arranging for the meal of a lifetime for our 50th wedding anniversary celebration. His involvement made our stay so personal and we felt so welcomed. We left Umbria with amazing memories and a new friend.

Perfection in Umbria

The villa is perfectly located about 10 minutes outside of the medieval town of Todi... far enough out to truly be in the quiet countryside, but close enough to town if you forget to get milk at the grocery store or you want to pop in to Todi for a casual dinner. There are magnificent views of the Umbrian countryside from the terrace and from each of the rooms. You also have a great view of Todi on the hillside in the distance. We had a treat one night -- the festival of Santa Maria della Consolazione in Todi ended with a large fireworks display -- we were able to sit on the terrace and watch the fireworks while sipping Grappa and eating fresh figs picked from a local tree. The house is well equipped. We had chef friends come from Sardinia, and with the tools and space available, incredible meals were prepared - grilled meats, hand made pasta, etc. But the best part about this place is the host, Gian. From the moment he corresponded with us before our arrival to the goodbyes several weeks later, he was a great host, tour guide and new friend. His family has a long history with the property, so he not only knows the region, but is able to suggest many local spots of interest, from area festivals to restaurants worth a visit. He brought us wine from the local cantina that processes his grapes into white and red wine; and gave us bottles of his wonderful olive oil, which we enjoyed throughout our stay. We had days in which we arose early to photograph the countryside at dawn and traveled to Tuscany; other days, we hung around the house, each person doing their thing: swimming laps, tanning, reading, working on a laptop, visiting the Sunday flea market in Ponterio, the closest market town. There's plenty of space for everyone. The washer came in handy, and the wifi was very good. It's a great location from which to make day trips. Over a month's stay, we visited Perugia, Orvieto, Deruta, Chianti, Val d'Orcia with Montepulciano and Montalcino; Spoleto, Assisi, Bevagna, Montecastello di Vibio, Montefalco and the cutest little small village across the valley, Ilci. If you are planning a trip of a week or more to Umbria, Torre del Mago is a perfect home base.

Villa in a fabulous location, 360 degree view of surrounding countryside, with Todi, a beautiful town, high on a hill not far away. Wonderful Villa, well equipped with most bedrooms on the ground level, which was a bonus for us. Stunning pool. Total relaxation. Gian was a perfect host throughout our stay and communication from our initial booking to arrival was punctuated by his prompt reply to any of our inquiries. We felt very welcome and at home. Would highly recommend, and hope to turn. Thank-you Gian Jane, Jim, and family.

The perfect location for a truly memorable vacation...

The ideal location in Umbria with glorious views in every direction. Spectacular villa, inside and out and all was even better than described on the website. The property is surrounded by flowers and the scent of jasmine. Our host, Gian, could not have been more helpful or enjoyable. His personal attention to all details was invaluable. Upon our arrival he had a bottle of wine waiting for us as well as a list of nearby restaurants, all of which were exceptional. He truly helped to make this THE ABSOLUTELY PERFECT VACATION!!! Whether we spent the day sightseeing or just relaxing by the pool, everything was extraordinary. The only thing we could have asked for was a longer stay there. Cannot wait to return.

Wir hatten gemeinsam mit unseren erwachsenen Kindern mit Partnerinnen und Kleinkind und Geschwistern einen wunderbaren Familienaufenthalt. Die Villa ist hierfür hervorragend ausgestattet. Unser Gastgeber Gian war jederzeit ansprechbar und hat viele gute Tipps für Ausflüge und gute einheimische Lokale, sowie für aktuelle Veranstaltungen in der näheren Umgebung gemacht. Im sehr geschmackvoll angelegten Garten und im und am Pool haben wir uns sehr wohl gefühlt. Die Betten waren bequem und die Badezimmer sauber und gepflegt. Sogar ein Gemüsebeet zur Nutzung der Villabesucher stand zur Verfügung.Die Villa steht auf einem Hügel und bietet einen Rundumblick auf die herrliche weite Landschaft Umbriens. Alle unsere Mitreisenden waren begeistert.

Wunderschöne Villa in traumhafter Lage mit großem PoolWir hatten das große Glück, einige herrliche Tage in dieser traumhaften Villa in Umbrien verbringen zu dürfen. Das Haus liegt in absoluter Alleinlage auf einem weitläufigen, liebevoll gepflegten Grundstück mit Zypressen, duftendem Rosmarin, Rosen und alten Steineichen – ein mediterraner Traum! Besonders beeindruckt hat uns der atemberaubende Rundumblick in die sanfte, typisch umbrische Hügellandschaft – ein Ort voller Ruhe und Schönheit.Die Villa selbst ist äußerst geschmackvoll und stilsicher im landestypischen Stil eingerichtet. Man spürt, dass hier mit viel Liebe zum Detail gestaltet wurde. Besonders hervorzuheben ist die sehr gut ausgestattete Küche, die keine Wünsche offen lässt – ideal für alle, die gern kochen und regionale Produkte genießen möchten.Ein weiterer großer Pluspunkt war unser Host Gian Cappelli: Bestens in der Region vernetzt, hat er uns mit zahlreichen wertvollen, individuell passenden Empfehlungen zu Restaurants, lokalen Märkten und Einkaufsmöglichkeiten versorgt. Dabei war er jederzeit schnell erreichbar und angenehm unaufdringlich – genau die richtige Mischung aus Unterstützung und Zurückhaltung.Die Lage des Hauses ist ein idealer Ausgangspunkt für Ausflüge in die nahegelegenen Städte Todi, Orvieto, Perugia und Assisi, die alle für uns mit dem Auto problemlos erreichbar und einen Besuch wert waren.Wir haben uns rundum wohlgefühlt und werden mit Sicherheit wiederkommen.

Wunderschöne Unterkunft, perfekter Gastgeber! Klare Weiterempfehlung.

Wir haben das Anwesen für eine Woche gebucht und die Zeit dort sehr genossen. Die Villa ist liebevoll eingerichtet und komplett ausgestattet. Die Aufteilung der Zimmer fanden wir sehr gut: auch mit acht Personen hat man Raum für sich gehabt. Der gemeinsam genutzter Bereich lädt mit Kaminfeuer zum entspannen und genießen ein. Einfach nur traumhaft! Die großzügige Außenanlage ist sehr gepflegt und wunderschön. Die Aussicht auf die umliegende Region ist atemberaubend, die Sonnenuntergänge waren malerisch. Wir möchten uns bei Gian für seine Gastgeberfreundlichkeit und Aufmerksamkeit herzlich bedanken! Vor der Buchung hatten wir einige Fragen und haben sofort Antworten und Unterstützung bekommen. Die Kommunikation ist einwandfrei gelaufen. Während des Aufenthalts war Gian immer für uns da, wenn wir ihn gebraucht haben. Vielen Dank für alles lieber Gian!
