I reserved one night, which was excellent. I checked out the next morning but after a long day at the wildlife refuge I returned for a second night, which was not as pleasant. Big difference staying on the first and third floor, most notably the hallways were very hot and stuffy, While the ground floor was a comfortable temperature since it contained reception, the breakfast room, and community rooms.
Reaching my third floor room through the warm hallways, I found that the TV did not turn on with the remote. I called the front desk twice, but no one answered, so I put my clothes back on to go downstairs. No one was at the desk, so I called out. I was told the remotes don't turn on the TVs, however the one in my room the previous night worked just fine. That was followed by “oh, most of them don't work". You must push the on button on the TV. What could have been an easy fix by phone turned out to be a hassle. The night attendant was too busy to pick up the phone and say, "hold on". The next morning I had an issue with the remote again, and after calling the front desk with an immediate response someone was knocking on my door in seconds. That was service! The second room towels were not in the best of shape. The bathmat was unraveling on the edges. Perhaps the third floor room wasn't used as often.
I would stay there again but reserve a room on the first floor. And compliments for the great hot breakfast and fresh cookies in the evening at reception!
