Great getaway

We enjoyed our stay, loved being by the water. Plenty of room for everyone (4 adults and 6 children). The grandkids enjoyed the beach and smores around the fire pit. We hope to come again!

Good Ladies Getaway

The gorgeous view and privacy made for a lovely stay. The house could have used a once over cleaning wise, but we were very comfortable and really appreciated the water filter. The internet was out the whole stay, but we had good cell service. Definitely would stay again.

Christmas on the Canal

Vacationed and visited on the canal for over 70 years. This is a great place without a highway running right behind it. And not packed in 10 feet from the next house. Quiet and peaceful, just you the water and the wild life.My only suggestion would be a better outside deck surface and wider steps. Very slippery and narrow.

A private nature retreat

Spectacular location, remote and private. A wildlife paradise. Tidal flux incredible. Gorgeous sunrises. Big sky over the water. Stunning clouds. House was cozy, warm and adequate.

Beds were different

We love the Thornedyke Lodge and have been coming for years. It is still great, but the kids (who are cousins) usually sleep in the big room with the queen bed and bunk beds. This time they had taken out the bunk beds. The listing still shows 2 bunkbeds. That was a little disappointing.

Great Family Vacay!

We love coming to this home each summer! The location is remote and beautiful and we explored the shoreline every day. The home is clean, comfortable (it is not fancy) and has generous amenities. The host is responsive and a great communicator. We had such a relaxing and fun time once again staying at Thorndyke Lodge!

Wonderful weekend!!!

What a wonderful place with beautiful views. We loved exploring the beach at low tide and hearing the waves lap against the bank during high tide. We would love to stay here again in the future!

It was a little scary the first night but thays cause i was alone but it was a awesome place i left the doors open and dogs off leash the whole time never had to worry about anything . Everything i needed was there . Plenty of water for drinking and cooking . Money well spent . Hope to return soon!

Beautiful Location

My family and I wanted a place on the water that was quiet and this property was perfect. The property is tucked away on hood canal and is great to get away and enjoy a quiet time with family. Our kids loved the low tide and spent a lot of time walking around the tide pools. Highly recommend.

A piece of heaven

My first VRBO experience was booking this home. That was one year ago, so when it was time to book another trip there was no other place I’d rather go than Thorndyke Lodge. It’s not fancy… it’s homey, which is perfect for my family. The hosts are amazing. I love everything about this property.

Hood Canal Gem

Thorndyke Lodge is a wonderful place for a family vacation! You have your own, private slice of waterfront for exploring. The kids loved it! So soothing to sit in the yard and listen to the gentle lap of the waves and watch the scenery change daily as the tide flows in and out. We enjoyed the eagles, watched a raccoon fish daily, (named it 'Rocket') and saw a submarine headed back to Bangor base, which is across the canal. The kids and adults walked the shoreline daily, found treasures and swam in the 'swimming hole' at slack tide. Would not recommend swimming in the canal itself as the currents during tide change are aggressive. The hosts have made many improvements and are generous with amenities. The house is comfortable, weathered and not fussy. Our family has been coming here for several years now and have made it an annual, summer tradition.
