The Moonlight Cottage: At The Water's Edge With Beaches And Atlantic Views
Moonlight Cottage!
Located in the fishing village of Tenants Harbor, Maine, this charming “real Maine cottage” is just steps away from the water's edge and your private beach. This picturesque oceanfront cottage has two bedrooms, one full bathroom, and an open-concept floor plan to comfortably sleep four people.
Upon arrival, you step up onto an oceanfront deck equipped with a propane grill, four rocking chairs, and an umbrella dining table with seating for four, perfect for enjoying the view or enjoying a lobster feast. The private beach shore is only steps away for sunbathing, picnicking, and viewing the working lobster boats coming in from haul, sailboats, and pleasure yachts blending in the harbor. Off the deck, you are only a few steps and a short grassy walk to a fire pit with four Adirondack chairs, perfect for an evening listening to the sounds of the ocean with a glass of wine while reflecting on your day of exploring.
Warm and inviting, this cottage is furnished with all the modern touches; you’ll have that feeling of getting away from it all without giving up any comforts of home. The nicely equipped kitchen has a table to seat four by the window overlooking the water. It’s an ideal spot to enjoy your morning coffee or play a game of cards. In the living room area, is a couch, two armchairs, two end tables, a rocking chair, and a flat-screen television with cable and a DVD/Blu-ray combo, and is complete with a wood burning fireplace for those chilly Maine evenings. Off the living room is one full bath with a shower only. To the left is a bedroom with a queen-sized bed and the second bedroom to the right has two twin beds, one of them being a trundle at floor level. In the second bedroom is a stackable washer and dryer, ironing board and iron, a hamper, and laundry supplies.
For your convenience, we have provided initial supplies of the following: linens, bath towels, washcloths, hand towels, and beach towels. Your first tank of propane for the gas grill, wood for the fireplace and fire pit, dish soap, hand soap, laundry detergent, toilet paper, paper towels, cable, wireless internet, and a home phone are all complimentary. We make every effort to assure the accuracy of this listing, and the condition of equipment and quality of provided services. We make no implied guarantee of connectivity for wireless internet or services provided by a third party. However, we will do everything in our power to remedy any situation as quickly as possible, and we thank you for your understanding.
Area Amenities: The Tenants Harbor General Store, is open daily, specializing in morning coffee and pastries, corn, blueberries, native lobsters, fresh-cut meats, firewood, and all grocery supplies. It is only a 10-minute walk, or bring your bike for riding the winding roads for the scenic ocean and island views. This is a pleasantly old and proud Maine community with its own library, school, and fire/rescue department. Knox County Sheriff's Office provides policing services. One-third of all Maine lobsters come from this county, named for General Henry Knox, George Washington's chief artillery officer in the Revolutionary War of 1776. You can learn about him on the peninsula, as well as enjoy programs offered all seasons at Montpelier, the Knox Mansion Museum, located just another few minutes in the nearby coastal town of Thomaston.
Heading another 10 minutes down the St. George peninsula is Port Clyde, another fishing village. You will enjoy beautiful ocean views while enjoying an incredible meal on the wharf and delicious ice cream for dessert from the local ice cream shop. In the heart of Port Clyde, you will find adventure waiting for you. Whether it's visiting a local art gallery, enjoying a day on the ocean with the Wyeth by Water Lobster Boat tours, or the Monhegan Island ferry adventures to see Maine seabirds, including puffins and American bald eagles, spending the day at the local Drift-Inn beach or a picnic at Marshall Point Lighthouse; St. George has something for everyone.
Here are some things you should know about visiting Maine:
Cell phones: Although coverage is getting better, there are some places where cell phones don't have good reception. Chances are you will have service, but just in case, make sure you leave the number of the house you are renting with those who may need to get in touch with you. Coverage with AT&T can be spotty in many areas of Maine.
Weather: If you have heard it once, you've heard it a hundred times: if you don't like the weather in New England, wait a minute. It can be hot in Rockland and cool in Port Clyde so make sure to pack a variety of clothes — from a bathing suit for hot days to a sweater for cool evenings. Check out the current local weather at www.weather.com.
Bugs: A lot of people ask us if we have mosquitoes...we sure do. But they aren't huge and they don't ruin a vacation. Bring some repellent, or pick some up at the local general stores and you will be fine; usually, you won't even notice them.
Dogs: We love dogs around here, but each town has its own rules about pets. Make sure to look for signs stating if dogs are allowed and always have them on a leash. If they leave behind anything, please pick it up, it's not a fun surprise when you are exploring the beautiful shoreline. You can also be fined for not picking up after your four-legged friend. Unwanted animals: You probably have them too, but raccoons and skunks can make you regret last night's lobster dinner. No one wants to pick up old, smelly shells that have been cast out onto the lawn by these cute, but curious and disastrously messy, little guys. So please don't put off placing the trash in the secure trashcans provided.
Water: Moonlight Cottage is not on public water supply. It has a well, with a water filtration system, and is tested regularly once a year.
Moonlight Cottage is a Saturday to Saturday rental year-round! This home comfortably sleeps 4 people/ max 2 adults.
The cottage is heated and features a kitchen and a patio, and there's space to spread out with 2 bedrooms. Guests can expect to find a Smart TV with a DVD player. Other standard amenities include a washing machine, a fireplace, and a coffee maker.

Amazing Location
This sweet cottage is located about 25 feet from high tide in Tenants Harbor, where you can watch the lobster boats heading out in the morning and coming back in the afternoon. Its location ensures privacy, with no houses on either side, on a quiet road not far from town.
Veronika always responded to any questions quickly and was an excellent communicator.
We loved our stay here and I can't recommend it highly enough.

Cozy cottage with unbelievable view!
Perfect location for a quiet getaway. Can’t get much closer to the water than this. Rocky beach area is just feet from the door and fun for beach combing for shells and rocks. Boats coming and going all day. The kitchen has everything you could want.

Sitting at the firepit outside, directly on the rocky beach and the Atlantic Ocean was magical ! We had a relaxing, enjoyable stay in this classic cottage. The location is unparalleled and the cottage immaculate. Our dog was in in heaven running on the rocks and beach all week. We look forward to our next stay at Moonlight Cottage!.

We renamed the cottage ‘The Acorn House’.
Cottage had top notch appliances, was clean and a short walk to the general store. View was wonderful.
The problem was the ongoing bombardment of acorns hitting the roof, the porch and occasionally one of us. Because the cottage’s ceiling is an uninsulated roof, the impact of the falling acorns on the roof resembled exploding cherry bombs 24/7.
There is also too much furniture and we lost count regarding the number of pillows everywhere. The cottage is too small for all the stuff in it.
But we love Maine and are very appreciative that the owners shared their cottage.
(We have too many squirrels in our yard at home. We would be happy to import some.)

Truly at the water's edge
We enjoyed sitting on the porch with a warm or cold beverage, reading and watching the boats enter and leave the harbor (bring your binoculars)! The cabin is a couples retreat and came with a well'stocked kitchen for cooking...although we enjoyed dining out and got our fill of the local seafood and baked goods, especially lobster, clams and haddock and everything made with Maine blueberries

Wow! What a quaint little piece of perfection. We enjoyed our stay at this cottage. It was well appointed, clean, and comfortable. The surrounding area was just what we wanted. We had the privacy desired, but close to restaurants, shopping, hiking, lighthouses, and boating. We look forward to a return visit.

Lovely and picturesque
I loved this spot with its charming cottage overlooking the water. Peaceful with terrific views from all points - patio, yard and from inside the house. The interior of the cottage is small but cozy. There’s a nice size w/d - you can do as much laundry as you care to. It can get quite warm inside the house at peak sun times even with the windows open - I ended up lowering the shades for a period during the day. Veronika was generous and responsive.
My sole comment is the mattress in the primary bedroom has prominent springs and is depressed in the middle, less than restful and would benefit from an upgrade. Regardless, I confirmed a second stay later in the summer and look forward to returning.

True taste of Maine
The cottage is well-kitted, with everything you need, and then some. High quality kitchen essentials, nice bedding, wood burning fireplace. A true test of a place is how is it when the weather doesn’t cooperate? That was my week: fogged in and lots of rain. I was comfortable, though, and cozy and dry. I saw the harbor briefly and could imagine how much more amazing this rental could be had I been able to get out on the beach and in the water.

Week in late Sept.
We loved the Moonlight Cottage! The view from the windows/deck were stunning and it was fun to see the Lobster boats heading off every morning. We have a black lab who loved exploring the yard and the beach. The cottage is well equipped with every thing you need. It was a good size for two people. There is not alot of privacy in the cabin (very private around the property) so perfect for a couple and 1-2 small children but I would have found it cramped with more than 2 adults. Overall a wonderful time....restful and relaxing. and a great area to explore. Will definitely return!

Moonlight cottage lived up to it's name as there was a full moon for the first few nights and perfect weather to watch the moon rise. We appreciate the attention to details and the well equipped kitchen. Nothing like having your morning coffee by the harbor. Already booked for next year.

This home was very well represented as far as pictures and amenities. I was surprised by the square footage, being smaller than I thought. We had a great time and only was home for dinner and sleeping so not a huge disappointment. Would love to come back and enjoy a week in the winter. I'm sure its beautiful.

Amazing vacation
It was more than we expected. The communication with the manager Veronika was terrific. Check-in was super easy, and Veronika texted us that the house was ready earlier for us than the Check-in time. The view we woke up and went to bed with was fantastic! The house is equipped with everything necessary to have a good time without any worries! We enjoyed the fireplace during the rainy nights and had a lovely going away gathering around the outdoor fire pit with a glass of champagne the last night. Thank you, Tenant Harbor and Veronika, for having us!!!
