If you've attended the Stratford Festival, chances are that you have walked past this charming cottage on Waterloo street just at the very edge of downtown.
The location is basically perfect. It is roughly a 2-minute walk to the Tom Patterson Theatre, perhaps 5 minutes from the Avon and maybe 15 pleasant minutes along the lake to the Festival. It is close to most of Stratford's best restaurants.
The building itself appears mostly to be a cottage divided in half with two one-bedroom suites. We had the Lakeview Suite, which was very nice and well-decorated. I would note that while, yes, you can see the lake from the porch/sitting area, it's not quite on the lake (because, as to the location, the Tom Patterson Theatre is almost next door).
The suite itself consists of a bedroom with dramatic 4-poster bed, a private bath, and what appears to be an enclosed porch that serves as the sitting area/office/"kitchenette" area. The kitchenette is mostly a cupboard with microwave oven and coffee machine. In our case, we ate out every night, so we were fine (plus they gave us some very good restaurant suggestions). You are also about 90 seconds from the edge of town, where there are many cafes, restaurants, etc.
The communication with the owners is very good and they were highly responsive.
This is a good alternative to a hotel, and has comparable amenities to what we might expect at a nice hotel suite, plus the location is great.
