We used this space as a “home base” for our bachelorette group’s visit to Bar Harbor and Acadia! It was in a perfect location and had tons of space for all of us (we were a group of 10). The living room space especially was great for watching movies and sat all of us comfortably. The kitchen was fully equipped with enough dishes for our whole group. The main detractors were the 3 car limit, which is a little tight for a place that can sleep up to 16 (although I understand the spatial limitations), and that there was a window air conditioner unit letting a ton of cold air into the main bedroom with bunk beds, so it was very chilly for some of the girls who were sleeping in that room given that it is November. Overall a great place for a large group! Dwayne was also very responsive.

This was such a perfect spot for my college friends and I to stay for the weekend. So close to Acadia and so much space for a large group of people. I cannot recommend this location enough, and hope to come back in the future.

Great place for a large group!
We had a great stay at this property! We had a group of 15 ranging from 6-79. The kitchen and outdoor spaces were great and the kids loved the air hockey table! The place was very clean and has plenty of parking. It would have been nice to have some curtains on the windows in the bedrooms at the front of the house. The sun came up very early and the blinds did very little to keep it dark in the bedrooms. But other than that we had no complaints!

Disappointing and Misrepresented
We were deeply disappointed to find the listing grossly misrepresented the property. It claimed to be located in a village, in a city center, on a lake, and on the waterfront—none of which were true. The outdoor space was not landscaped as pictured but was an uncut front yard behind a hedge encased in wire fence, facing a driveway and garage that housed another rental unit that had three different families rent it while we were there. These guests had a clear view into our front entrance and porch, compromising privacy.Inside, the layout was disjointed and not suited for large groups, as advertised. Gathering spaces were limited, and the main living area featured a sagging, uncomfortable couch and broken ottoman. We found a pill and vape pen in the cushions—clear signs of poor cleaning. Large thresholds posed tripping hazards, and railings were unstable. The kitchen was under-equipped for group meals. It lacked counter space, pantry storage, and had small, damaged, or missing cookware and utensils. Bedrooms were generally fine, but some had issues with doors, storage, or air conditioning. The upstairs bath was cramped with a wall protruding a foot into it and there are no bidets as marketed. We made the most of our time together, but the home failed to deliver what was promised. For the price and for a once-in-a-lifetime trip for our family matriarch, this rental felt like a poor investment and a letdown.

Arnold Family on Mt. Desert Island
We had a great time exploring the island and Acadia National Park. Also ate plenty of lobster and other sea food. The property was nice but air conditioning in the big bedroom upstairs would have been nice.

Not What I expected
The upstairs kids bedroom had dangerously stairs & ceil was so low an adult couldn’t stand up. Upstairs bathroom shower had a structural beam running so you could not stand up to take a shower. Bad design & surprise to have. Listing for bathrooms including bidets was inaccurate & shower curtain was moldy. Electrical outlet in an upstairs bedroom was not fastened to the wall. Home needs work / TLC & was over priced IMO.

Spacious House near Acadia, short walk to town
We really appreciated having so much space for all the cousins to play in. We were near the Acadia activities (hikes, bikes, and kayaks) and liked being able to walk to town (Southwest Harbor) for lobsters on the waterfront (Beal's Lobster Peal).

Southwest Harbor/Acadia
The home was excellent for our family. We had 8 people stay and we enjoyed the spacious home and the surrounding area. Acadia was breathtaking. Beal’s Lobster Pier was a “must do” as well as Sail Acadia for their sunset cruise. The location of the home was convenient to everything.

Family vacation
Our family had a wonderful time in the Bar Harbor area. The house generally suited our needs. It was clean, with a nice sized yard, fire pit and gas grill. The kitchen is small and the toaster needs to be replaced. There are things that need to be addressed. The stairs leading to the area where children would stay were steep with narrow treads. A handrail at the top of the stairs would be much safer. The shower in the upstairs bathroom is not suitable for adults over 5’6” or so. There were no instructions for using the tvs which didn’t become an issue until a day of bad weather. The owner relies on email to communicate so by the time he got back to us we had already moved on.

Quirky Southwest Harbor House
Overall the house met our needs. The lockbox was difficult to open and the main entrance door lock was very difficult and needed to be lubricated after we called the property manager. The first night we ran out of hot water because the heater had been turned off. The property manager apologized. The kitchen was well stocked. The stairway to the sixth bedroom was treacherous. That bedroom did not have a bathroom at that level. Many of the mini blinds were broken and need to be replaced. Several of the interior doors were difficult to close. In spite of these needed repairs and updates we did enjoy our stay. We appreciated the big dining table for our family. The location is quiet and perfect for exploring the park.
