We stayed at the White Star Tavern the night before a cruise. I chose this hotel because we prefer places that are unique and not part of a chain of hotels. We were not disappointed! The check in process was smooth and we were asked what time we would like a cab take us to the cruise port. That was a pleasant surprise. Our room was small

We came to Southampton the day before we left on a cruise. We stayed at this lovely hotel for one night and thoroughly enjoyed ourselves. One word of warning, however, is there is no elevator in the hotel. We had to walk up four 10 star flights of steps to get to our room. But other than that, the stay was wonderful. The hotel is located in a very fun area of the city with numerous bars and restaurants on a closed off street with outdoor seating. It was a very lively area. We would definitely return. The lack of an elevator would’ve been no problem had we known and packed just a small overnight bag because they are willing to store your large suitcases on the first floor.

Was very nice. Rooms are a bit garish, but part of the charm I suppose. Very clean and staff is friendly and helpful. Great part of town for walking and dining. Be prepared to carry luggage up narrow stairs, but they well advise you of that. Only complaint was street music and noise until after midnight. Was within reason though.

Initially we thought the building was quite nice and the room was nice and cosy. There was pretty much everything we needed but a few things missing such as spoons for tea and coffee. A few down points, my pillowcase wasn’t changed the few nights I was there and on the final night I had to ask for a new pillowcase which I had to change myself, after specifically asking for a clean in the room as the night before only the bed was made, there was rubbish left around the room, the carpet was very dirty, one of the teacups was quite dirty, most annoyingly, the coffee machine wasn’t working properly and there was no tray to put the cup on. The staff downstairs were lovely but unfortunately, the cleanliness of the room really wasn’t good for us, considering we wanted to just relax and have a little luxury.

A unique British Experience. Pub atmosphere. Friendly staff. Great service and food in the pub. Excellent included breakfast. Be prepared with a carry on bag to your room as this old building has no elevator. Comfortable beds, clean room with unique decor. Music in the surrounding area ended around 11, and after that it was pretty quiet. If you’re afraid to have a little fun, then maybe this isn’t the place for you. But to start off your vacation with friends it checked off all the boxes. Bridget was an amazing hostess. And all the staff were friendly and courteous. We’d definitely go back.

This was one of the best places we stayed in a long time. All, really all was perfect. First of all, this tavern and hotel hosted some of the guests from the famous Titanic, and the premises are as beautiful now as they must have been, back then. Very well renovated and the upkeep is great. Nicely decorated rooms with complementary water for your enjoyment. We loved the little details to make sure the guests have everthing they might need in their rooms. Coffee, Tea, treats. There is no lift and the building is very vintage, but the staff is nice enough to help the guests with luggage. We ate at their tavern and the food was very, very good. So was the service. Great chef, all is very tasty. And, get excited about an amazing breakfast. A beautiful buffet and hot fresh prepared dishes to order from. Location is convenient short walk to the town shopping. We will definitely stay here again.
