Family vacation in South Padre

Location and size of the house were great for our family vacation. Plenty of space and bathrooms. Nice views and short walk to the beach. The house is starting to show some age but still a nice property for vacation.

Older property that has received little maintenance

The overall comfort of the property was good. You enter and go up the stairs to the living area and a second flight of stairs to get to the bedrooms; by the time you get to the second floor you will have traveled up 39 steps. The main shower in the master bath would produce on hot water (needed a new cartridge). The other showers produced only a low volume flow (need replacing or cleaning). I had to remove the aerator at the kitchen sink to get enough volume to use the disposer. Master toilet lever was broken. I replaced it with a $2 part from WalMart. You have to wonder how the cleaning people flushed it after cleaning. Dishwasher was new but not attached to the cabinet so when you pulled it out it tilted forward. Sub-Zero had a lighted message "service"; which was on when we arrived. We managed to live with these issues rather than report them and have to have to deal with a service person in the house. The pool pump in the garage closet had a drip when we got there and a trail of water running through the garage by the time we left; I did report this. In summary the house is old and in need of some TLC. It is a short walk to the beach but you have to cross the main road to get to the pool. We lucked out with the weather and the beach was great and the water beautiful. I would not rent this property again.

Property was Good

We liked the location, it was quiet and the access to tennis courts and 1/2 basketball court was great for the cloudy, colder and windy days. The beach was quiet in front of the neighborhood and only 1 mile walk on the beach to the pier where the restaurants and hotels began. The house provided beach chairs, tennis rackets (bring your own tennis balls), basketballs (no pump to air them up), indoor games and a chest freezer for extra ice. There was plenty of space and the tall celings were great. We showed up at the 3pm check-in, but the cleaning crew was still there for another 45 minutes. Some vrbo houses are maintained like a home and some like a rental, this was maintained like a rental. We could't open the door to the balcony in the master bedroom which was marked by a paper sign taped to the door because there was a large crack through the bottm of the door. The windows didn't work properly downstairs and the air vents were very dirty. Some of the furniture and toilet seats showed a lot of wear and tear. The pool looked much bigger in the pictures and it was on the side of the house with the highway. The grill was new and worked great. There was no garage door opener which wasn't convenient, especially having to go into the house to open the garage door when returning home. It was missing some amenities like blow dryers in the bathroom and hot pads in the kitchen. Overall, it was good but don't overpay.

Great house but pool was dirty

- The house probably needs to be fumigated. There were ants in the kitchen and we found a few roaches. - We had the maintenance guy come and help with the television, but he really couldn’t do much since the living room Roku remote was missing. This wasn’t a big deal but we would have liked to watched some of the World Cup soccer games that were featured on non-local channels. - The pool was pretty dirty. The maintenance guy said the pool company was going to be at the house Friday morning, but I’m not sure if they ever serviced the pool. I saw a pool company in the neighborhood Friday early afternoon, but didn’t see them on the premises. This was a big disappointment because it was a huge selling point for the rental and mostly everyone in my party wasn’t willing to jump in. Overall, we enjoyed our stay. It would have been much better if the pool was clean.

The Shores is fantastic

The beach is basically private and only for The Shores guests. Everything is so clean and well landscaped! The Shores guests can go to the beach, the community pool, or even fish on the bay side! My kids loved staying here and we will again!

House needs updates

House is covered in carpet . Wall to wall . Carpet that needs to either be replaced with new carpet or just replace with tile. The shower in master bath didn't work but the rental company did come and replace a shower head so that we could use that shower. Two TV's in the house only one worked . Very limited channels but there were some free movie options .the shores community was nice very well maintained but can't say the same for this house . The rental company was nice they did try to fix any issue we brought to their attention. the woman I spoke with went out of her way to get me some groceries for arrival. I think this is just more an owner issue where they need to update, clean, fix stuff to rent .

Awesome Weekend

We stayed at the shores for a 3 day weekend and daughter birthday. We totally enjoyed the home and property. She and her little girlfriends had a blast as well as my wife and I. Franke managers were quick to resolve the issue of the oven not working for my daughters bday cake. We will rent again. Next time we will try the bay area.

Great place your family reunion or vacation.

We booked this house during the memorial weekend. It’s great place. Very clean. It has a private swimming pool and community pool and tennis court. It’s only steps away from the beach. The house has umbrella, beach chairs and things that we needed for summer vacation. We had a great time here and will come back again next year.
