The Hideaway- Walk to DT, Hike to the Lake!

Summary:

Welcome to The Hideaway: a 700 sq ft cabin in the West Village of Shaver Lake. This is one of the original cabins built in Shaver Lake in the 1930s and has charming upgrades. This 2 bedroom, 1 bath beauty is a short 5 minute walk to town and 5-10 min. drive to the lake. The large deck is complete with a sitting area and a lower deck with a picnic table. Enjoy the feel of sitting in the trees under the hanging lights. In the winter, the ultimate sledding hill is right behind the cabin! In the summer, the walking trail and creek behind the cabin is great for exploring!

The Space:

A true cabin, The Hideaway is quaint in size, with one main living space and two small bedrooms. The main bedroom has a update queen bed and a small chair that can be a cot for small kids. The other bedroom is a small bunk house perfect for kids. The living room has a twin pull out in the loveseat if needing extra space. One bathroom with a full shower is located off the bunk room. . The cabin is walking distance to town, and located in front of a hill perfect for sledding in the winter months. 5-10 minute drive to the lake, 25-30 minute drive to China Peak Ski Resort.

This cabin does not have AC.

Guest Access:

Guests have access to the entire property, including fire pit and snow hill. There is an easement just below the cabin that can be used for extra parking or boat parking during the summer months. During the snow months, it is too risky to park there as it does not get plowed. Depending on the snow level, some other areas may be inaccessible depending on your ability level, including the fire pit, parking space, and walking trails.

The Neighborhood:

The cabin is located in the West Village, walking distance to Mountain Tripper, The Trading Post restaurant, Shaver Lake Bakery and Deli, Shaver Lake Pizza, and various trailheads. Drive to the lake, playground, library, waterfalls, and other attractions! The West Village is known for its proximity to downtown, friendly atmosphere, and walkable neighborhood. You're likely to see wildlife from squirrels and birds to deer roaming around behind the cabin. Lately, there have been black bears spotted nearby as well.

Getting Around:

We suggest getting around with your own vehicle. However, this property is walking distance to downtown Shaver Lake. During the winter months, you'll likely need snow chains if there's snow in the forecast.

Other Things to Note:

Though it sleeps plenty, our cabin is small. Please read the whole description and look at the pictures before booking. “Love grows best in little houses just like this”.

We do NOT allow pets, parties, smoking, or drugs.

There are many critters native to Shaver Lake, including raccoons, bears, insects, snakes, rodents, and more.

During the winter months, tire chains are required to travel up the 4-lane to Shaver Lake. If you are traveling in the snow season, make sure you have correctly fitting tire chains and know how to install them.

4/10 Poor

Horrible check in process, terrible instructions on how to get lights turned on. The host never mentioned that there was a check in note book tucked away in a bin on the wall. My girlfriend almost injured herself badly walking into the bathroom when she did not see the step down from the main bedroom. There is a lawsuit waiting to happen with that bathroom step down. Bathroom heater does not work. The gas fire place has one temp, HOT. Also, no instructions on how to operate the fireplace!
