Not what it once was. This was our 4th stay at the hotel since 2014. The hotel is beautiful, majestic really and well located but most definitely not a 5 Star service that goes above and beyond for its clients as it once was. Particularly when it comes to families with younger children. The icing on the cake is that my Chanel make up kit disappeared after the room was cleaned for checkout. For which, I received no apology from the staff.

Hotel is undergoing renovations and the construction noise is not pleasant, they should advise guests, when reservations were made. Coffee mugs when we used we had to ask service to bring to the room. Phones to call room service not working… just not a good experience for the high price we paid.

It was like a horror movie. We paid 2.500 euro for 1 night and we received a room in 18 degrees, and smelling sewage. They said it will be heated in 10 min, there was no change after an hour and we called technical service. Someone came, check the air conditioning again and one of the rooms was a bit heated. We went out for a dinner and got back to the room around 23hrs. The smell in our bedroom was worst, we opened the windows, kids were asleep so we had to stay in the room last night. I woke up around 03:30 in the morning with a horrible smell, I was about to vomit. We moved to the kids room, the room was freezing... So, we tried to sleep 4 people, in 2 single beds in a freezing room. I really pissed off and went down to the reception, they apologised etc. A cleaner and technician came, they sprayed some air freshener and gave us an electrical heater. You can imagine out frustration. We met with the front desk manager after the breakfast, he said they will do the best to compensate for previous night and make sure that we will have the rest of our stay perfect. We will see....

The Hotel Alfonso XIII is an iconic hotel for many reasons. From the moment you drive through the gates you are treated like royalty. The valet service is first rate. The lobby is very special. The check-in team is very professional and very knowledgeable. The room was incredible. The restaurants and bars are amazing. The hotel is perfectly located. Everything is within walking distance. However it is the hotel team that makes your stay unforgettable. Just incredible. We look forward to returning. Muchas gracias!!
