I stayed at this property to celebrate my wife’s 30th birthday, and it exceeded every expectation. The staff was warm, welcoming, and attentive, making our special occasion even more memorable.
The property itself is even more stunning in person the views of the lake were absolutely breathtaking. We stayed in the Dome, and instantly fell in love with its unique charm and the incredible outdoor bathroom.
The food was just as amazing as the scenery fresh, flavorful, and beautifully presented. This is truly a place where every detail feels special. I would highly recommend it to anyone looking for an unforgettable getaway.
The room it's self was beautiful and the view from bed was world class! The bed was very comfortable and the room was spacious with a nice closet space and a huge bathroom. We loved sitting on the porch and watching the view. Walking from the dock to the hotel was more confusing than I would have thought. Probably just paying the little kids at the dock to carry our luggage and show us the way would have saved us a grumpy moment of getting lost while carrying heavy backpacks. Lots of wonderful restaurants are very walkable. The hotel restaurant was sadly closed while we were there but the menu looks amazing.

This place was advertised as having dining and the dining room was closed except for breakfast. It made it very inconvenient
Property is beautiful and the staff was amazing. The views are exceptional with a cup of coffee in the morning. I highly recommend anyone looking for a relaxing stay, book at Kula Maya
I loved everything about this hotel. The views were stunning. The bathroom was so beautiful. My bed was so comfortable. I usually travel to explore but I booked this hotel specifically to relax and enjoy the hotel itself. Food and drinks were good as well. You can hear everything from the nearby rooms and the dogs will wake you up at 5:30am, but just in time for sunrise. The area itself is full of backpackers and hippies, not my scene but I stayed in the hotel. A 3 min walk is a park where you can jump off into the lake. I stayed on a rainy Sunday night so I didnt experience the loud music from neighboring spots. No ac but the fan was perfect. Definitely will stay here again.
Kula Maya was very nice, clean and had a good selection of foods. The pool area is much smaller than it looks in the pictures and it only has 4 lounge chairs. The room was cleaned very nicely and the location is very close to the dock. Transportation set up by the hotel was pricey.
The food was great at this property and its very close to the water taxi dock. The only downside is the pool jacuzzi is only open for a couple of hours in the early evening.
This was quite possibly the best hotel we've ever stayed at. The views of the lake from every vantage point on the property are beyond stunning. The food at the hotel was by far the best we had anywhere in Guatemala. The staff were friendly and extremely accommodating. The room was stunning. And we absolutely loved San Marcos - everything you need is at most a 10 minute walk from the hotel. Truly can't recommend Kula Maya enough.
This hotel is very beautiful and comfortable. The location is great, close to many restaurants, shops, and to the water taxis. We had some of the best food on our trip at the restaurant. If you are vegan, the restaurant has plenty of options. The staff are also wonderful, they helped us decide where to visit and helped us book a taxi back to the airport. I would definitely recommend staying here!
We loved our room it was super nice with beautiful view of the lake. The room was spacious and clean, the bathtub was nice addition.
Sadly the WiFi wasn’t working that well, but is the only bad thing we can say.
Really recommend this place.
This is absolutely the best and most beautiful place to stay in San Marcos. The vibe is very different from the rest of the town, but personally I was grateful for that. It's a bit pricey of course, but if you're looking for a quiet and beautiful place to spend a day by the pool and enjoy delicious food, this is absolutely the place to go. The staff are lovely, And if you want to go out in San Marcos it's just steps away. Highly recommend!
The only thing I feel compelled to add is that the restaurant next door plays music until 10:00 p.m. every night and it definitely feels like it's in your room lol. Made no difference to me because I can fall asleep anywhere, but definitely something to consider if that would be hard for you.
