Sent my payment via VENMO on a Thursday and was told by the Host that I needed to wait until that Saturday to receive confirmation of payment and that our stay was booked. Why weren’t they just upfront and tell me that the Owners were out of the country and couldn’t confirm?
The nightly rate for this home which sleeps 15 was advertised at one rate per nite, however, after fees and and “an additional guest fee”the cost was significantly higher. We were 8 adults and 2 children so I truly don’t understand the extra charge.
As described, the home is a 5 bdrm/4 bath. The downstairs bathroom toilet was missing one of the seat bolts and the other one was about to fail. One upstair bedroom had a broken bed frame. The electric blinds in the family room were inoperable and the only TV in the house had the power cable jerrt-rigged running across the face of the fireplace into a receptacle located in a cabinet next to it. The fireplace insert apparently didn’t work either so a portable electric stack of logs was situated on the hearth. Lastly, the jacuzzi in the Master had a switch with was totally disconnected from the tub so that didn’t work either. Although not a really big deal for two short nites, all of these little items added up to the perception that the owners really only care about making $ and not making this 2M dollar home what it could and should be if charging their nightly rate. A hotel would have been a better choice.
