Stayed in the main building for four nights. The staff was friendly and the room was good. Didn’t have any issues while I was there. It is a basic room, nothing extravagant. It was in a great spot, within walking distance to pretty much everything.

Staff were lovely and keen to give recommendations. Hotel is in a good location and rooms were a good standard. You do need cash to pay the city taxes so just make sure you have a bit on arrival, they were fine with us paying it at checkout as we didn’t have cash when we first got there. Nice spot for a base.

Hotel 55 was a pretty decent stay. Upon arrival, I could tell that it was going to be warmer than I had anticipated for the entire trip. The heat was on and the daytime temperatures ranged from 65-70 degrees (Second week of November). I wanted to turn the individual heating/cooling unit down but my only options were up or off so I opted to turn it off. That was the best option considering the mold that was growing inside the unit after taking a closer look before checking out. When I opened the window, the temperature inside felt a lot better. Aside from that, the property appeared clean, had friendly staff, and a great breakfast menu. I enjoyed the location, as it was relatively close to everything. The only thing I would note is that during the day, it is difficult for a taxi or uber to pick you up due to heavy foot traffic so you may have to do a little walking to a less congested street to meet them.

We stayed in a superior room and it was very spacious. Staff were very helpful and kind. The room was spotless. The only minor hiccup was having to pay the city tax in cash, my fault! Should’ve checked! And it’s now made me aware that I need cash when travelling ;) Great stay! So close to everything, bars and restaurants are great around the hotel. Thank you!!

We booked Hotel 55 but we taken to another hotel called La Maison D’Art. It was half a kilometre away. It was small and the reception on our floor was so dirty I complained and then at midnight someone was outside our room scrubbing it. It was bad as we couldn’t sleep. For three nights they had Jack hammering outside our window so we didn’t get much sleep till we got to Dubai. Great location and breakfast but room was not Four Star like advertised and not hotel we booked.

Consider the following. We booked our room several months before our trip. When we arrived to check in, they had us walk with our bags a quarter of a mile to the overflow hotel. It was a hotel composed of several other hotels in one building. That was somewhat of a red flag but the least of our worries. The hallways and rooms had an odor that wasn’t great. The bathroom had these little grey stonefish-like bugs that kept appearing. The hotel also failed to inform us that the street below would undergo construction every night from 9:30pm to nearly 3:00am! Jackhammers, dump trucks and loud workers. We hardly slept the entire time. When we complained about the noise they told us that we could switch rooms for the final night. It wasn’t worth it because you can tell everyone in the building no matter where they stayed were affected by the noise. The housekeeping and breakfast staff were very nice but the people at the main building were very short and unhelpful. Beware if you plan on picking this hotel.

Our stay was fantastic. Hotel 55 sits directly on Via Del Corsa, one of the main walking streets in old Rome. All of the main sight seeing sites are within walking distance. Hotel 55 staff are great. Providing help with taxis, attractions etc. Edwin the bar tender rocks! We will stay there again next time we’re in Rome Ciao!
