Before we made our reservations, I had checked reviews on the Breakers Cottage. Some reviews mentioned issues with uncleanliness and repairs that needed attention. They were months prior; I assumed the problems had been addressed. Not the case.Yes, this place is on the beach, has a beautiful view and is located close to town; however, it is run down and needs many repairs along with a thorough cleaning. Photos need updating; they definitely don’t show the accurate picture. The yard has not received attention in a while; there is more sand than lawn; the deck is missing a step and is shoved under the deck, making it a tall step. Beach access was a steep rock wall. There was an easier rock path a block down the road. The interior was less than desirable. Being outdated could be overlooked; however, the carpet, linoleum floors and baseboards were filthy. A sign at the door stated, “homeowner is asking to kindly remove your shoes.” Sadly, there was no way we were going without shoes. The bathroom floor center had been mopped; however, the edges were grimy/sticky. There was dry rot by the back door, bedroom heater did not work, stove was wobbly and the range hood had never been cleaned, cupboard drawers and doors were sticky, dishes had to be cleaned, kitchen cupboards unorganized, no large fry pans; yet it stated “the chef of the group will be in paradise knowing that a fully equipped kitchen awaits boasting all of the appliances of home”, very misleading.
