Close to beach

Noisy (unsafe looking.. But ok) Neighbourhood. Easy 15min walk to beach, restaurants and shops. Can't walk there with luggage - it's on a hill. Clean and lovely staff but air-con in room needs re gassing and therefore room smells bad and is muggy. Everything is damp, hence the smell. Bed ok ours rocked everytime someone moved though. stayed during Olympics so it was slim pickings..

This was an interesting stay. The staff don't speak English, there is no tourist information. I would recommend staying here if you speak Portugese, don't mind finding your own way around/booking tours, walking up 2 big hills (or 300 steps straight up from the Metro). The neighbourhood is on first impression a shock. Rubbish piled high on the sides which is cleared each day and a smell to match. The locals were surprisingly very kind and helpful in the surrounding bars.

Friendly staff who spoke decent English, quirky rooms. Downside was that the neighborhood is really ghetto, would have never walked outside the hotel

Think carefully before staying here

Location is on Rua Saint Roman which is an unclean, hilly thoroughfare to the favela above. So tolerable for one or two nights stay, but not for any longer. Location is a short walk to Copacabana and Ipanema. Room itself is clean. WiFi didn't work in my room, but worked well enough in the common lounge room, so not really a problem. During my stay, the standard of service was below expectations. Reception was closed during check-out (9.30 am), which meant that I was unable to call a taxi to take me to the airport from the hotel. I had to cart my luggage down dirty Rua Saint Roman to hail a taxi from the street. An undesirable situation. I won't be returning to Casa del Angel the next time I visit Rio.

The hotel is located on a pretty steep hill passing through a very busy and narrow street. When we arrived we noticed there is no window whatsoever in the room. As a result the room smelled pretty stuffy. The shower head in the bathroom looked a bit weird and was stuck at an angle. When I tried to turn off the air con I noticed the remote didn't work so I had to no choice but to put up with the air con when the room temperature was only 17 degree Celsius. When I tried to take a hot shower to get warmed up I noticed there was no hot water at all. The next morning I had to wait till 8am when there was someone at the reception. She came in and did a few things here and there and told me it was all good. I tried the remote again and it worked and it seemed like there was hot water but by the night the remote didn't work again and the hot water only lasted for 5 minutes until it turned all cold again. I didn't try to walk to the beach because of the busy street outside. It didn't look safe to me at all because of the crazy traffic. It's not cheap enough to justify the location or the poor facility. If you can afford a bit extra I would strongly recommend not to stay here. Don't be tricked by the pictures like I did.

No hot water, smelled of mildew. Location was bad.

Beautiful updated room, great outdoor and indoor hang out area. The pool was outdoor so had some leaves. Would recommend for a group of friends traveling together, wouldn't be as scary walking around at night and nice, comfortable feel to it.

up the hill next to a favela

its one of the cheaper hostels so i was not expecting much. the staff were very helpful with my email queries before i arrived and also when i checked in. but that was the last time i saw them. they were not present on check out and i never saw them during the stay. my room smelled of molds. i felt sick each time i am inside. it has no windows. i stayed out most of the time. its a long climb up a hill and through a local neighborhood which to be fair, seemed safe and i did not feel threatened at all, but thats me. i think there are better places

O local é estranho, o acesso de carro é difícil mas, fica a 100m da estação do metrô e uns 500m da praia. O café da manhã é bem limitado porém o suco é natural e gostoso, é uma pousada bem caseira. Local para estacionar reduzido.

Localizada na Comunidade do Pavão pavãozinho

Fomos enganados pois em nenhum lugar estava escrito que a pousada se localizava dentro da Comunidade! Chegamos perto da pousada às 20h, momento no qual policiais estavam bloqueando rua e nos avisaram que era um local perigoso e de conflito! Nessa rua Uber não sobe, o que nos faria ir a pé de noite até a pousada. Perdemos 388 reais que já tinham sido pagos com antecedência e nem ficamos na pousada.

Se duerme cómodo y el aire acondicionado y wifi están adecuados, el único problema que no puede llegar o salir caminando del lugar De ubicación está en comuna y se hace peligroso el ingreso y los servicios de transporte como Uber cancelan y después de varios cancelación el que llega , llega asustado y los taxis no suben hasta lugar. En el tema del Aseo es un poco precario sólo nos hicieron limpieza habitación cinco días después de haber llegado a la posada.
