The only good thing about the hotel was the location. It was walking distance to the BSI bus terminal and Bus Stop 6. It was next door to a bar which got noisy at night. I would not recommend this hotel. There’s no front desk, no receptionist. They text you a personalized pin number that you use to open the front door and your room. The room was tiny. There’s no desk to put your things on. The sink faucet was loose. No place to put the hand towel, they had just placed it on the sink. No bathroom counter. No lobby, just a couch on the main floor and two ipads to check in yourself if you did not do that ahead of time online. No bathroom in the lobby to use while you wait for your room to be available. There is a luggage storage room in the basement, but all guests have access to it, so it’s not secure. They even say that they don’t take responsibility for your items. No attendant keeping an eye on it. They say they have extra supplies (toiletries, towels and linen) in the luggage storage room. It’s just a tiny cabinet with a few supplies for the entire hotel. They were out of bath towels for days. There’s a live online 24/7 chat. I sent them a chat at 8pm requesting towels to take a shower. They said they would deliver it. After 2 hours, I chatted them again and they said they had no one at the property and that I would have to wait until morning. What kind of hotel doesn’t have towels??? Do not recommend. Especially for the price we paid per night ($300).

Overall, the property was great if you don’t mind being by loud bars and sleeping in warmer temperatures (air circulation was poor). The room was clean, spacious, and in very walkable area!

Please alert guests of property changes...

Though the room we ended up in was nice, it was NOT at the Midtown Hotel! At no point in any of the communication were we instructed that we were booking a different property with a different name and a different access point. We were in another country, trying to locate our accommodations in the rain. Thankfully one of us had phone service, or we would have been SOL...

I’ve stayed here twice on this trip, and my first stay was excellent- modern, comfortable room, perfect location. This time, I checked in late at night- the bathroom door was off its rail, so it was swinging in an unsafe way when you moved it. There’s no check-in staff available when you call from the lobby at night, so no chance to change room. Not as many plug points, either. The room was large, bed comfortable, but it was not as good as my first stay, which was a shame

Fantastic location, right in the heart of downtown Reykjavik, and a short walk from almost all the main tourist spots. It was safe, and easy to access too. The room was spacious and modern, and the shower was great! The team are very responsive- and fixed an issue as soon as I raised it. Just as a note, downtown gets quite noisy at night. There are earplugs provided, though I didn’t mind the noise myself! No air-conditioning for the summer, but opening the window suited me fine (though it increases the noise).

Terrible noise, curtain doesn't cover the windows

Be warned. The noise from the bar is something that is untolerable. Unless you really love bar music and sleeps really late (The bar closes at 11pm as it was stated). We were given the quadroom of which the bar is right below. The whole room feels like it is shaking the whole time. It was stated on the card that ear plugs are provided but they are nowhere to be found in the room. Went to the luggage storage room that they said has ear plugs but the code doesn't work ! Another major negative point, the curtain doesn't close fully ! it only cover like half of the window. Looks like someone put up a wrong-sized curtain. Note that this is a self serviced hotel, so basically that's limited guest support. Location is good but I will not be coming back.

Perfect place to book if wanting to stay near downtown. I paid $155/night, which seems cheaper than most places for a hotel this nice. Easily the best hotel during our trip, it felt like a 4-star hotel for a 2-star price considering how expensive Iceland can be during summer months. Worth it for the right price!

Overall, the building is in a great location in downtown, just blocks from the rainbow road and the church. The room is very nice, with a small kitchenette. The beds were comfortable. Here are the cons: 1)We stayed there on Thursday and Friday nights. We were in room 204 on the second floor. There is a restaurant/bar directly below the second floor and they have a band on Thurs-Saturday nights from 8pm-11pm. The band stopped at exactly 11pm. The hotel was supposed to leave earplugs, but did not, even after we requested them. The band was great and played all our favorites. 2) In June it doesn’t get dark and the curtains did not cover the entire windows. So, bring eye shades. 3) The refrigerator did not get cold. 4) The water smelled like sulfur. I only mention this because we stayed in a different hotel and the water did not smell.

We really liked the privacy of the apartment, and the patio was nice. The bed was not very comfortable and there definitely needs to be two more pillows. It’s a small space, but it was fine for our intended use, just two nights in between flights! We really liked the bars nearby and the location was great. Just be prepared to walk a few blocks from the bus stop with your luggage! We could not find or figure out a thermostat, so being on the fifth floor was way too hot. We ended up keeping the patio door propped open while we were there to cool it down. I don’t think we would stay here again, just because the bed was uncomfortable and it was too hot. The black out blinds also don’t cover as much as we’d like, or as much as other places would offer. I will say the communication with staff was excellent, as was the ease of check-in and check out. And the location again was superb.

The apartment was in an ideal location for the centre and was very spacious. Whilst this is a self check in hotel the comms were good via email althought i didnt raise any issues. On the negative side the locatio is very noisy with loud music plus people until early hours in morning followed by bin (garbage) collections etc starting c6am!! Whilst the hotel did its best by giving ear plugs some may not like this. The other issue is the curtains as they are too small and did not cover the windows! When it is permenantly light in May they ought to ensure this is resolve and get curtains that fit the windows

This location is unbeatable!! It’s in the heart of the city, walkable to all restaurants, pubs, shops, etc.. The only thing is parking (but that’s the general problem in downtown area). You have to pay parking, and in P1 zone, where the hotel is, is pretty pricey. You can walk few blocks and park in P2. I’d def pick this hotel again. Highly recommend.
