About this property
Moss Rock Retreat - Near Leach Botanical Garden!
Moss Rock Retreat is a peaceful tiny home surrounded by an acre of hillside gardens. Tucked behind the magical Leach Botanical Garden in a forested neighborhood, Moss Rock has the serenity of a mountain retreat - but is only 20 minutes from downtown and PDX. Come for respite from the busy world, a quiet workspace, a creative getaway, a romantic weekend, or to explore the natural beauty of Oregon - all are possible in the comfortable intimacy of Moss Rock Retreat.
Inside, you will find a full kitchen, with all the equipment you need to prepare and enjoy delicious meals. The office has a comfy sofa-bench, a built-in desk, a reading library, and excellent wifi. The bathroom is small but functional, with shower, toilet, a super cute tiny sink, and essential toiletries. The loft bedroom has a cozy double bed with spectacular treehouse views (please note that the stairs up to the sleeping loft are narrow and do *not* have a handrail). The second loft, with a twin bed, has a great view of the crab-apple tree, and is accessible by ladder.
Outside, enjoy the morning on your private porch, or take in the evening light show from one of the two viewing decks in the yard. The quiet, forested neighborhood and the large garden make for a serene setting not found in most urban tiny homes. Come to escape, to create, to rejuvenate.
The tiny house is smoke-free and pet-free. Unfortunately, due to health and safety concerns, we are also unable to accommodate emotional support or assistance animals.
The tiny house has a private gated driveway that guests are welcome to use. Every so often we do need access to gated driveway in order to maintain the property. We make every attempt to do so when the driveway is free so as not to disturb our guests. Thank you for your understanding!
Nearby Attractions:
Portland city center is a quick 20 minute drive.
Within an hour drive you will find Mt. Hood National Recreation Area, Columbia River Gorge, and the Willamette Valley. Tillamook and the Oregon Coast are less than a 90-minute drive.
Just down the street you will find the historic Leach Botanical Garden, a secret garden with wandering pathways, including the newly added aerial tree walk, which takes you 30 feet up into the tree canopy. Down the hill is the historic stone cabin, a gift shop, Johnson Creek, and the newly renovated, beautiful Manor House.
A longer walk (3 miles round-trip) takes you through the neighborhood to the peaceful Foster Wetlands.
The hikes of Powell Butte are a few minutes drive away, and Jenny Butte Park just a bit further.
The enchanting Crystal Springs Rhododendron Garden is a 17 minute drive, and well worth the visit. The Willamette National Cemetery is three minute drive up the hill.

Tiny home- peaceful, great neighborhood
No complaints at all. It was cute and had all we needed. If I could find one critique it would be that the bathroom is Very Small- can’t sit on the toilet and close the door comfortably if at all - but it truly is a tiny home so as long as privacy is not an issue, it was great.

A Hidden Gem!
For our first time staying in a tiny home on vacation, this was the perfect place! Everything was clean, the home itself had great little storage solutions and the eggs from the chickens were just the cherry on top! The location was amazing, quiet, and we are so grateful to Matt and Virginia for hosting us in their tiny hideaway!

Peaceful Retreat
Everything about this tinyhouse was WONDERFUL. Check-in was seamless and directions for getting through the gate and into the house were very helpful. The place is cozy, peaceful, and with all the beautiful greenery it felt we were the only people for miles. The garden behind the tinyhouse is gorgeous rain or shine with veggies and native flora- and we got to meet several of the chickens who were quite polite and very handsome! The hosts were very responsive when we had trouble with the hot water and got it fixed while we were sightseeing so there was no inconvenience to us, we appreciated how much effort and thought went into the tinyhouse and property. Such a gem, we hope to stay again on our next trip to Portland!

Very clean tiny home
This place was immaculate when we got there. The host gave us a tour of the beautiful 0.8 acres that it sits on when we arrived. There are beautiful gardens behind the tiny home which are all on the same property as the owner's home. We had everything we needed including fresh eggs from the hosts' chickens and fresh coffee. The water pressure and temperature are great. No microwave or dishwasher but we didn't feel we needed those because of the full kitchen.
