I've genuinely had better stays with motels in the middle of nowhere when traveling, than this rundown of a two-star Hilton Embassy in downtown Portland Oregon. To the point that I feel my time has been wasted.

The staff were friendly and helpful. The room was clean. We shower didn’t drain well, which may have been the result of an old building. But that part wasn’t great. Also the stairwell wasn’t super clean.

I had a very disappointing experience at this Embassy Suites location. After my stay, I was incorrectly charged a smoking fee, despite the fact that neither I nor my guest smoked in the room at any time. I am a non-smoker and fully complied with hotel policies. I immediately went to the front desk to dispute the charge and was told I needed to speak with a manager. After waiting as instructed and following up via email, I was repeatedly redirected and ultimately told to contact the General Manager directly. Unfortunately, the General Manager never responded. What was most frustrating was not just the erroneous charge, but the complete lack of accountability and follow-up from hotel management. A charge this serious should be supported with evidence and handled promptly, neither of which occurred. I would caution future guests to carefully review their final bill and be aware that resolving billing disputes here may be difficult.
