Beautiful hotel and setting, but service needs imp
The Tivoli Alvor is in a fantastic location, close to the beach and local amenities. The hotel itself looks quite new, and everything is nicely finished and well-maintained. The pools are beautiful, and overall the grounds are very attractive.
However, service was definitely a weak point. While a few staff members went above and beyond, the majority seemed disinterested and often lacked clear information. Check-in was chaotic (albeit understandably busy), but parking management was a real mess. After checking in, we tried to reserve spots at the specialty restaurants and spa, but nothing was available for our entire two-night stay, which was disappointing.
Food quality was okay — not bad, but not standout either. The buffet offered some variety, but again, nothing particularly memorable. Drinks were what you’d typically expect at an all-inclusive: made to the cheapest acceptable standard, with a clear push to encourage upgrading to the premium drinks package.
We mostly stayed around the adult pool, which was lovely, but the drinks offering there was very limited. There wasn’t a full bar nearby, meaning you had to walk quite a bit to get cocktails, which was a shame.
In short, it’s a beautifully located and designed resort with great potential, but they really need to improve the service experience to match the setting.
