Welcome to The Happy Place. Over the past 13 years our family has created many memories and truly is our happy place. Over an acre to enjoy with creek running through the backyard. Large fenced area for the pups to run.


The space

We are proud to offer our newly renovated home to guest to create the same memories and experiences as our family! The Happy Place is a 3 bed/2bath home that has been completely renovated with comfort and function in mind.

The primary bedroom is spacious with a large walk-in closet & king size bed. The primary bathroom features heated floors, beautiful designed walk-in shower with niche lighting and a large free standing soaking tub.

There are two additional bedrooms. The western room & moose room each feature queen size beds, closet and Roku TV’s.

The main family room is perfect for lounging, watching movies, or catching up on your favorite Netflix series. The secondary TV room is a multi-purpose flex space. Electric fireplace, couch with two end recliners, built in cabinets with many card and board games to choose from.

The kitchen is spacious with new appliances and has everything you’ll need to make your family meals.

The laundry room also features our pup station. We love our pets and travel with our two dogs and understand how important our guest pets are! We have a small kennel (large kennel upon request), toys, treats and waste bags. We want your pups to feel welcomed too.

The property is situated on an acre lot with a peaceful creek at the lower portion of the property and is surrounded with trees that span 100 years old. The front yard is fenced and secured for your pets with plenty of space to run and enjoy their pup-cation. Enjoy a cup of coffee on the front patio with stunning mountain views. The extended back patio was designed with our guest in mind. This is the perfect place for entertaining, family dinners or simply to relax and experience Arizona’s natural beauty. We also have an outdoor fire pit for camp fires & roasting S’mores. (Season permitting) The property is equipped to park your rides. There are near by trails that you’ll be able to access with a quick ride up the rim.

If you plan on bringing ATV or Side by sides please let us know. We are happy to point you in the direction of trails but it is extremely important to respect the neighbors. We would ask rides are only driven to and from the property not driven around the property. We are happy to provide more detailed information.

Everything!!! Its your magical place!!!!

There MAY be a FIRE BAN in place when you are interested in coming. Please check the Tonto Forest web site for alert ban status.

I will have a sign on the fire pit if I know there is a ban in place. But, it changes often, according to the weather, etc. I do not control the state fire ban laws. Safety is important!

This is a rural location - sounds you may hear could be horses, coyotes, dogs, cows, chickens and roosters along with farm equipment.

DOGS and wild animals: This home is next to the forest and neighbors do not always keep their dogs fenced and they are allowed to run around the area. The pets are generally friendly and RARELY come by. However, you need to be aware that I can not control the wildlife or neighbor dogs. If you decide to bring your pet, the front yard is a large fenced area but I do not recommend you allowing your dog to run around freely.

Often there will be more horse traffic than car traffic. Do not approach horses or the area ranches. The road past Sprague Ranch road is a private road. More info will be provided after booking.

Open Range: The property is located in an open range area - this means certain times of the year livestock will pass through the property. Stay clear of any livestock.

To reach the Happy Place you will pass through the creek that runs through the property - it is usually shallow but during or after rain storms requires extreme caution.

We had such a wonderful experience at The Happy Place! The host is great and very communicative! From the moment you walk in the front door you feel at home with every essential you could possibly need. Absolutely one of the best stays in a Vrbo. It was very cozy, inside and outside. Televisions provided in all the rooms, kitchen was well stocked, very peaceful setting. They have thought of everything. We didn’t bring our puppy, but the provisions for those who do is wonderful, and it doesn’t smell like animals were there or have dog hair everywhere.

Such a beautiful place, and SUPER clean! Host was very responsive even when we arrived at midnight and we couldn’t locate our check in instructions. This location provided items in the household that are above and beyond standard for some rentals. This made the stay even more pleasant. We also enjoyed the remoteness to the property. Got to even see some elk at night wandering the neighborhood! Overall, 10/10 would stay again!

The Happy Place is a very well appointed home. You can tell that the owners are experienced in offering vacation rentals that are comfortable and very well appointed. Bob provided great recommendations in the area, even calling a stable for me ahead of arrival and he came and found us in our car when the creek behind his home began to cover the wash, making sure we knew it was safe to cross. Only feedback I provided to Bob personally was regarding the fenced yard being in stones only. My dog is 14 years old and blind so getting around on the stones was hard for him, a patch of grass would be nice. The back patio is lovely for enjoying morning coffee or an evening glass of wine.

Meets and exceeds any and all expectations!

The Happy Place is hands down the best house we have ever stayed at. This hidden gem blew our expectations out of the water. From the perfect location tucked back alongside the creek, the beautiful finishings that make the house look like it came out of a Joanna Gaines home, and the wonderful hospitality of Bob and kattie! The creek was beautiful and provided so much fun and entertainment for our kids. It was so quiet and peaceful and honestly an area that I cannot wait to go back! The house was perfect for kids, dogs and adults! Definitely a must stay when visiting the payson area, and we are already looking at the calendar planning our next trip there! Thank you both for the amazing place to call home for a few days!!

Repeat Guests for Many Reasons

My wife and I first stayed at Happy Place in October for a family wedding. Back then it was my wife and I, along with my mother in law and our dogs. We absolutely loved the house, the two living rooms were convenient and the property was gorgeous. My wife and I promised to return as a couple with our dogs and Valentines was the best time. The owner Bob remembered us from the first trip and we both knew the instructions. This second trip was even better. Just relaxing and taking in the cool wooded air. Neighbors are great, walking trials are amazing and we were only a 10 min drive from shopping plazas in case we needed something. We loved every minute and we may return again down the line, that's how great it is out there.

A Wonderful Getaway

This is our second time at the "Happy Place" and once again we had a wonderful time. A very comfortable place with so much to do & see plus a short drive from the Valley. Your kids and dogs well love the running creek on the property. The trees and scenery around the creek will make you feel like you're in a different world. The kitchen is well stocked with everything you'll need. Finally, the hosts went above and beyond with great restaurant & hiking recommendations.

Truly A Happy Place

The name of this house is for a reason because it truly is a Happy Place. It was a very large comfortable peaceful house. My wife, mother in law, and sister in law were there for a family wedding near by. We took our dogs and they loved the open front yard. The view was amazing and the neighbors around the house were sweethearts. The host was communicate and always available when we had questions. Check in was easy and the check out even easier compared to other houses we rented in the past. This home is highly recommended for families looking for a calm peace getaway.

The hosts have certainly provided everything one could possibly expect! House was immaculate and beds were comfortable. The only downside was the rough road getting to it which they don’t control. Peaceful Retreat

We stayed here to escape the heat in Phoenix and spend some quality time together as a family. We hiked in the nearby national forest, went down to the creek and relaxed enjoying the sounds of the stream, grilled Tri-tip and chicken, and played board games. We enjoyed the cool mountain breeze every night as we ate dinner on the large back porch. They thought of everything to make our stay extra special including a welcome bag with goodies, microwave popcorn, cookies, and treats for our dog. Our dog enjoyed running free in the front yard which is completely fenced in so we didn’t have to worry about him running off. I worked one day and the Wi-Fi was very good allowing me to access large files at work while on Zoom calls with my coworkers and while each of my 2 daughters watched different shows from their bedrooms on Disney +. The beds were comfortable and the bath/showers seemed brand new. It truly is a Happy Place we would love to return to!
