We booked this hotel many months in advance and even called to confirm. On arrival for check in, we were informed that there was some vague issue with the room. They did not disclose whether there was a problem with the room or if they were double booked and would not elaborate when asked. They stated they would send us to a 5 star hotel with a similar view to our original booking (stunning Eiffel Tower view from the studio suite with balcony). The room offered by the alternative hotel was sufficient, but the view was only the very top portion of the Eiffel Tower. We stated many times that the priority was the view, not a 5 star accommodation, so we were misled. We had only two nights in Paris and had a tour scheduled immediately after check in, so we did not have the luxury to squander time. Had the hotel staff been upfront, we could have used the hour before our tour to find alternative accomodations. Instead we had to navigate this on our own on a cold rainy night in Paris. We have traveled all over the world, including North Africa, Asia, Europe, and Central America. This was the first time an establishment failed to notify us that there was an issue with the reservation prior to arrival. We were very much looking forward to our stay here. We never expected to be so disappointed.
