A classic onsen hotel near Ogotoonsen Station on the Kosei Line, about 20 minutes from Kyoto. The property has that old-fashioned Japanese charm — a bit dated in places, but warm and inviting. My room was traditional with futon bedding, which may not suit everyone, but I really enjoyed the authentic experience. The private onsen bath was wonderfully relaxing, and the rooftop open-air bath overlooking the lake was a highlight, especially in the cool evening air. Dinner was a full multi-course kaiseki with excellent Omi beef, and the breakfast buffet the next morning was just as impressive. A peaceful and memorable stay overall.

They offered free shuttle service to the nearest JR stations. Nice quiet area for a hot spring vacation. Breakfast and dinner were included in our package, and the food was fabulous and very authentic. It was my second time returning Yumotokan, and everything had been maintained up to standard or even better. Highly recommended!

We are so happy to have stayed here during our trip to Japan. Our room had traditional Japanese style qualities and the private onsen was amazing. We had a beautiful view of the lake, everything was clean, wonderful service, and delicious fresh food all included in our stay. It was a truly relaxing and luxurious experience. I love the staff so much! Super kind, optimistic, and happy people. The amount of different onsens they have are really awesome with an amazing view! You can get a 9 course dinner, and the breakfast is really filling too. I highly recommend getting your private onsen if you have tattoos since they dont allow them in the public onsens. If you have a small one, you have to cover it up. Would definitely come back again:)
