This is more like a 4.5 because overall, it was a great stay! I had to deduct some points because the room we had was a little stuffy even when we turned on the A/C. But the hotel's in a great location and the breakfast buffet was *chef's kiss* wonderful.

The hotel's location is perfect - right next to Namba station. Breakfast buffet has a good spread and food are clearly labeled. We hope they will have more no pork and no alcohol food in the buffet. The room size is okay for Japan standard. .

Not worth the price

Hotel lobby and building itself were nice but the room did not match at all. The bathroom was very tiny with barely enough room to move around, bed was average, A/C unit was noisy, and room itself was sufficient but nothing special. I expected a lot more for the nightly price I was paying at this hotel, quite disappointed. I asked for an extra water bottle and they attempted to charge me which I find quite unusual this was the first hotel where I encountered this in Japan and have stayed at quite a few places. Overall, was not worth it in my opinion.

Tour group hotel

The room was quiet and clean. Location was near transportation, restaurants, and corner markets. The hotel was older and catered to tour groups so at times throughout the day there were large groups of people moving in and out of the hotel congregated in the lobby with vast amounts of luggage and clogging up the elevators. Apparently they also clog up the breakfast buffet because there were notices posted around to expect long lines and wait times between 8-9 am at breakfast. We were happy to go to cafes around the area instead of dealing with the masses. Oddly too, the hotel has decorated in a European style. Not negative but just surprising. Again, very clean and tidy hotel just expect large groups.

Overall our stay at Hotel Monterey Grasmere Osaka went smoothly. The location was excellent, walking distance to where we wanted to go and subway lines just below the hotel. The room was nice and cleaned every day. One very minor complaint was that my wife went to the reception to get more coffee and was told that the house keeping will bring it up but never showed. That incident didn’t change our review and gladly stay at Hotel Monterey Grasmere Osaka if we ever come back to Osaka again.
