Unfortunately, our stay at Sakala was a disappointment, so much so that we decided to leave early without a refund of any sort to salvage our vacation.
First of all, there was construction happening next to the resort which Expedia nor the resort told us anything about. Every day between 7:30-8am they would start with hammer drills and that would go on all day. As someone who works remotely and was partially working on my vacation, I was sleeping late at night and was getting woken up every morning from the noise. The noise was quite simply unbearable, even if I was not sleeping, you go to a place like Bali for the peace and quiet, not for a property demolition going on and waking up to that noise every day.
Our room was infested with aunts when we checked in. We informed the property but they told us that they don't have any other room available. Then they started spraying very strong pesticides while we were still present in the property but even that did not take care of the aunt infestation completely.
The property is literally falling apart. I am sure this was a great property once but it has been run down and not very well maintained. Door handles were falling off, shower pressure was non-existent, internet speed was barely between 2-3 Mbps and it was disconnecting frequently.
For the staff, some were lovely and some absolutely rude and inconsiderate, not caring about the DND sign either.
Expedia support, 0 stars. No help and no follow up for days.
