Vineyard Chalet Hansel and Gretel, Otočec, Slovenia

This charming wooden cottage has come straight out of a children’s fairytale. Set on the hillside, looking out over the Krka river valley, amongst vineyards, the cottage is an excellent base for a relaxing holiday in the famously beautiful region of Dolenjska.

Built into the side of the hill, the cottage has a wine cellar, and the main living area is on the first floor, with a large, semi-covered terrace in front. Here, guests can dine al fresco and enjoy the truly magnificent views. Inside is furnished with a comfortable sofa, a traditional wood-burning stove, a flatscreen TV, and a dining table for 4 people. The open-plan kitchen is well-equipped with an induction hob, oven, microwave, fridge/freezer and toaster.

In the attractive garden, there is a swing, and other children’s toys are available, plus sun loungers for adults.

The owners are working towards making the property more sustainable, with steps such as banning single-use plastic, providing recycling bins, double glazing and water-efficient toilets.

Location

Halfway between Ljubljana and Zagreb, this cottage is in the heart of the idyllic Dolenjska region, famous for its wines and thermal springs. Ljubljana (1 hour) makes a fascinating day trip. Zagreb, the Croatian capital, is only 1 hour and 15 minutes away, so is also an option for a day out.

Closer to home guests can enjoy hiking or cycling in unspoiled nature. There is the Grad Otocec golf course just 15 minutes away. For something more relaxing, the thermal springs of Smarjeske Toplice (10 minutes) offer excellent spa treatments.

The historic town of Novo Mesto (20 minutes) has everything visitors might need in terms of amenities, plus paddle boarding, boat hire, rafts and canoes.

Ljubljana’s international airport is a 1 hour 15 minute drive.

Het is een fijn huisje en heeft alles wat je nodig hebt, het terras met het uitzicht is fantastisch! Jozi is een hele lieve, behulpzame vrouw! (Haar man ook) ik had een ongelukje en ze stonden op alle fronten voor ons klaar. Ik zou het iedereen aanbevelen! Het was ook een heel warm welkom! Wij zijn ze heel dankbaar! Urlaub in den Weinbergen - von hier das ganze Land entdecken

Bei einem Glas hauseigenen Wein den wunderschönen Blick ins Tal genießen. Von dem Weinberghäuschen aus kann man das kleine bezaubernde Land in all seinen Fassetten kennenlernen. Wir hatten ein sehr schönen Urlaub.

Ein wundervoller Ort zum Entspannen. Das Häuschen - märchenhaft, der Ausblick - atemberaubend. Himmlische Ruhe..... , es waren wundervolle und erholsame Tage, wir haben uns hier sehr wohlgefühlt. Für unsere Hunde war es ein Erlebnis, den Beiden hat es hier auch sehr gut gefallen. Sehenswürdigkeiten und Einkaufsmöglichkeiten in der Nähe. Danke für die Gastfreundschaft.❤️ Zum Weiterempfehlen. 👍
