Beautiful Newquay

Great location! Comfortable & compact single room. Fab shower and wonderful large bath towel! Staff were welcoming & helpful. The room could be improved by the addition of a bedside lamp but otherwise everything was great!

The hotel was very modern and the rooms were lovely. Breakfast was really nice. The staff were really friendly The hotel was within a 20minute walk to the town and had some shops near.

Service was poor no room change,so no new towels tea coffee milk toilet rolls when asked was told by the manager that we had to let reception know, even know we put the door sign stating make up the room, will not be going back

Not pleased

I did not have an ocean view and the room was quite small. The mattress was too worn and soft. Also there were stains on the carpet. The staff were very friendly and responded immediately to questions. Housekeeping was thorough although sometimes leaving the "make my room" notice on the door did not work.

Room was much smaller than photos appeared and had limited amenities for example only one body wash/shampoo/handwash that you had to move between the sink and shower. The bathroom also had dirty cotton pads by the shower. Team did not respond to my request to secure parking and overall felt I would have been more comfortable at the premier inn next door.

The first floor was very rundown with grubby warn and dangerous carpet in the corridors. Room 15 had a mini wash basin with only a cold water tap. Room 1 had a tiny wash trough as part of the cistern. Both rooms had lumpy beds. Very basic and not worth the money. Would not recommend.

Ocean Beach Hotel Excellent stay.

The overall stay: The Reception Managers were Excellent especially helpful carrying our Heavy case to the third floor Attic room 23 overlooking a flat roof garden below. The Suite was excellent but the carpet needed to be replaced. The inclusive Breakfast was plentiful and served by happy Staff. Although there was not a lift my wife’s Mobility scooter was carried into reception and carried back to the front of the hotel for my wife to use during the day. We would definitely be happy to stay again.

After booking with you I sent a message stating it was my partners Birthday and if the hotel could do something complimentary, it would be much appreciated When we checked in, the room was standard with no special greeting or anything The Gentleman at reception said he didn’t receive any email even though I showed him that I received at response from the hotel staff stating that they would accommodate my request. So that was a little disappointing. The view in the room was facing a wall and carpark when i asked if we could be moved I was told the Hotel was fully booked but it clearly wasn’t. The bathroom room door was situated right by the end of the bed which made it very awkward to go in and out. As for the shower, It was an absolute joke. Upon arrival we wanted a showered after the long drive from London, as soon as we turned the water on the level started raising rapidly and pouring out of the top onto the bathroom floor. My partner went to reception and was told the maintenance man had just finished so they would send someone in the morning. Due to her continuous persistence they then sent someone who cleared the shower but this resulted in us being late for our birthday dinner reservations. The room (carpet, bed sheets, radiator and window seal) was filthy. The bathroom was also dirty, no place to put a hand towel. Overall this wasn’t the good stay and we won’t be coming back.

Staff and Management were helpful and friendly. Communal areas which were carpeted needed either cleaning or replaced as they were badly stained. Bedroom furnishings were very basic and garden view left a great deal to be desired. I have photographed carpets and garden view and will forward to you if so desired. Please advise.

Staff was extremly friendly and helpful with any questions. Located just a few minutes from beaches and town centre. Parking around the corner. Breakfast was very good. Kettle and coffee / tea + milk / sugar provided in the room. Great sea view from the balconies if you book accordingly. Unfortunately our beds were so saggy we could feel every single spring in the mattress and the carpets in the rooms and hallways desperately need to be deep cleaned or better yet, replaced. We were told the owners have just recently taken over so hopefully they are in the process or replacing and renovating. Desk / vanity drawers were full of crumbs, however the cleaning crew did a decent job making up the rooms (bedding, towels, bathroom cleaning, restocking coffee etc) with probably very little time.

Do not stay here

Advertised as a 4* but it’s a 2 at best. Small beds, clearly not doubles. Small tv. Curtains that don’t fit the walls. No Ingredients to make cocktails. Dirty carpets. Hand wash for shower gel. Never ever again.

The room was spotless and the facilities good, including bottles of water which were a welcome touch. So I was really pleased when I walked in. However this was spoilt by the mattress which was way too soft and uneven which made for an uncomfortable night where eventually I slept across the bottom of the bed. Not good and such a shame. This place is in an excellent location and is smart and welcoming. If you replace mattressses (see other reviews) in some of the rooms it will be excellent.
