The first room offered was quite dark as was on the road side of the property amongst many trees and on the ground floor. We were then offered a room on the third floor as it gained more natural light. Room was a little tired but clean. Great dining options being part of Wests. Staff helpful and friendly. We have been to that property before and it is normally great. Room was not very nice relative to the other rooms we have stayed in. No extra pillows available, had to ask for extra towels for the four of us. Air conditioning unit also didn’t work very well. For the price paid (acknowledging it’s a holiday period) we expected more from the property.

Clean room. Friendly staff. Bed comfortable enough - I prefer my mattress and pillows on the firmer side and NO accommodation I had been to had this, so the bed is either not comfortable or comfortable enough to me. Wish there were free water bottles and toiletries in room. Gym - for a gym where you pay membership for, I was expecting a lot more equipments (e.g. trap bar, hyperextension)😅 and newer machines (the weight plates and big DBs were quite old). But you'd still be able to train a lot more than most hotel gyms - there are 2 squat racks, 1 smith machine, 2 cable machines, legs extension and curls machines. Can't remember whether there was a bench press, but you'd be able to do it at the squat rack if you wish.

The hotel is a part of Wests Leagues Club in Newcastle which has excellent dining and relaxation options. Check in was quick and painless and the car park was also easy to access. Bed was good. Whilst the property is in good condition it is starting to show its age a little bit. My room didn’t have any easily accessible power points which in this day and age is very noticeable when you have items that need charging. I also find the hallways somewhat noisy. You could hear every door slam and person walking past.

Rooms need an update. New paint, carpet and patch holes would be a good start. Very noisy, can hear people talking in the hall and I mean every word they are saying. Can hear next-door too and heard a loud banging all night above us. Went up to have a look and it was just kids running around in the hall but sounded like a stampede in our room.
