NO CLOSET. NO WORKING INTERNAL LOCK.
Not "luxury" by any stretch. Everything is old, tired, and poorly maintained. I intentionally didn’t look at the AC filter - guessing dirty and moldy. AC was barely adequate while "on full" for days in the seventies. Wouldn't be adequate on hot days.
Sink cracked, shower walls marked, but shower curtain new and plumbing worked.
Not business friendly. Only one chair, which is built for lounging, not desk work. I used it as a doorstop, wedging it under the door handle to replace the broken security lock.
No place to hang clothes - drawers only. No iron or ironing board in the room.
Bed was rounded on the edges; slept fine (in the middle) by myself.
Hotel is isolated. The Melrose train station does not service MTA. Found bus or ride service to the station at 161 street and Yankee Stadium to be the route that felt safest. Trains reached most of Manhattan in 30- 45 minutes.
Would I repeat? No. Did I make it work? Yes, and so can you. But as between pod hotels and here, I'd pick the pod. You get what you pay for.
