A Deeply Disappointing and Distressing Experience at SLS Baha Mar
My fiancé and I are frequent visitors to the Bahamas — it’s a place we hold dear and have always associated with relaxation, luxury, and unforgettable memories. On this trip, we decided to try something new and booked our stay at SLS Baha Mar, veering from our usual choice, The Cove at Atlantis. Sadly, this proved to be a regrettable mistake that tainted what should have been a special and peaceful getaway.
On just the second day of our stay, I developed a severe, painful rash across my body — red, itchy, and increasingly unbearable. Hoping it was a mild reaction, I initially tried to push through it. However, by the third day, the symptoms worsened dramatically, prompting me to visit the on-site medical clinic at Baha Mar.
At the clinic, I was told I could either purchase over-the-counter treatments or see a doctor for a $250 fee. Since I was already self-treating with allergy medication and cortisone with no improvement, both the nurse and I agreed that seeing the doctor was necessary. I paid the $250 and was later treated with intravenous steroids. It wasn’t until we returned to the front desk afterward that I was blindsided with a demand for an additional $600 — with no prior disclosure of this cost during the intake or treatment process.
