We booked the day before we arrived when we decided to stay a few extra days in Volcano to wait for Kilauea's eruption. The location in proximity to the national park is great, but the description of this unit lacks detail. If you are going to be at the park all day, this is a good option, but if you are planning on spending time at this house you may be less comfortable than you expect. Some specifics: bed is extremely soft, too soft, feels like a waterbed. Hot water is only available from the shower, tankless hot water heater does not kick on for faucets due to flow limiters. No AC but there is heat. Instructions direct guests to only use dishwasher or washing machine from 11am-3pm due to solar power capacity (soap provided for both). There is no dryer and the average temp is 65 and rainy. One towel provided per person (which never really dried after it was used due to weather). Hair dryer high setting is blocked with cement putty, only low/cool works. The kitchen is outstanding - tons of appliances and utensils all of high quality. Olive oil, seasoning salt and pepper were provided. Overall this worked out fine for us as we spent 90% of waking hours in the park and were able to cook meals comfortably while we waited for the volcano's next eruption episode!
