I feel like the photos don’t do this place justice! I was pleasantly surprised by how cozy and spacious the room was. The king bed was very comfortable, there’s a good amount of surfaces and closet space to store your belongings, and I was surprised to discover a door to another room of two twin beds! Had more space than I needed. The fireplace is a cool touch. I honestly forgot there was even a partial view of the ocean, so that was a nice touch. The water in the shower heats up quickly which was great for chilly evenings or mornings in late October. It’s super walkable to all the restaurants and shops in the town, and also to the beach for a bit of a longer walk (it’s uphill back into the main area). Everything was super clean and I appreciate that there were things like an ice bucket, plastic cups, plenty of shampoo, conditioner & body wash. Would definitely recommend this spot as it’s cheaper than the fancier trendier spots, but ticks off all the boxes of what you need. My only suggestion would be to have a filtered water tap somewhere, in addition to the ice machine. But I didn’t really look in the lobby area so maybe there was something there. Also parking was easy even if you can’t manage to get one of the on-site spots.

Our room was spacious and cozy. It was also pet friendly due to wooden floors, as it will be easier to clean and no existing stuffy or pet smell. Staff are friendly and welcoming. The only downside is limited parking. Otherwise all great and the vicinity is safe.

The office staff was helpful and very friendly. Parking was easy and secure, though the don't have ADA accessible parking. This is not an ADA compliant property stairs even to the office. The rooms were clean, but windows were old and screens dirty. The toilet seat was not stable/coming off. The 2-room suite was a great option, though the door doesn't really protect from sounds in the second room.

I had a wonderful midweek stay in a 2 room suite. The value is unbeatable… for the price I expected it to be run down or dirty, but it was great! Very walkable to downtown and the ocean as well. No car needed. I’ll be back next year!

There is a small parking area but plenty of parking on the local streets that has no time limits. The rooms are clean and comfortable. The hotel is close to everything but at night it is a quiet oasis nestled in a small neighborhood. The staff is really helpful. I enjoyed my time there and will be going back soon. thank you for a wonderful stay.

My only regret was to use Expedia for this reservation, since they ripped me off for -30% more than the Carmel Wayfarer Inn would have charged me!!!! Expedia sucks bigtime!! Dr R H Fish. PS: the Inn was great, and we will return next year for Birthday treats, and make our reservation directly with the Inn!!!

A sad state for the once lovely Carmel Wayfarer...this used to be a lovingly run B&B with an eclectic but charming (if not slightly shabby) vibe that is in an excellent location. While the location remains great, the lack of care is evident throughout. The rooms are painted truly the most hideous color that could be conceived, the grounds are okay, but lack any sense of care or attention, a far cry from their prior abundance. The furniture in the rooms is cheap, thrown in with no care to placement or aesthetic, the sheets were ripped on our bed, the blankets and towels threadbare, the heat non-functional. It wasn't filthy, but it wasn't clean either. This could be such a gem, but is just sad, especially considering how much we paid. If you must stay in Carmel then this should be your last alternative. The young man checking us in was nice. The beds were not uncomfortable. We were able to park in the free lot. They allow dogs, and the family suite was a large room. We just couldn't wait to get out of there. I really hope the owners at least change the paint color, get some new linens, and get the fireplace (the only source of warmth working). Washing the windows and the floors would go a long way as well. Get rid of the depressing "artwork" and clunky crappy furniture. Whoever chose how to outfit these rooms should not be in charge of future decisions.
