We stayed 4 nights in mid-July, an extended family group of 8. The house is comfortable, extremely roomy, very nicely furnished and decorated; nice views from decks on all three living levels Lavishly equipped, as described in the VRBO website, with both appliances and supplies of all kinds, including a variety of recreational equipment in the garage.
The setting is quiet, with one house next door and a few on the next side-street; a good site for bird-watching. The large but not very busy Cedar Creek Marina is visible a quarter-mile inland. A short half-block away is the shore, where the famous horseshoe crabs are a jaw-dropping sight. For a bathing beach, we drove to nearby Cape Henlopen State Park, 40 minutes away, uncrowded, with beautiful beaches & great nature and history exhibits, including a bike path and other trails. The cost is just $10 per day for a carload of out-of-staters to park. After that, all attractions are free—even the bike loans!
Emily, our host, was extremely responsive and helpful in answering questions both before and during our stay. I had inquired a week ahead (on behalf of game-playing children in our group) whether there might be a card table in addition to the long list of other amenities; there was not, but Emily supplied one (with chairs) in advance of our arrival! The ice-maker was unfortunately on the fritz; a bag of ice was in the freezer to get us started, and we found ice trays in the kitchen.
