Great staff and room. Clean and quiet, perfect for a few nights. Breakfast buffet was delicious and totally worth the ¥700. Beware, it is not super modern and the beds are a bit stiff, but I was still captured by the charm and the great location :)

Location location location

Location is amazing (a block from Matsumoto Castle and 2 blocks from the famous shopping areas). Highly recommend it if you’re looking for a basic spot. No bells and whistles but I was comfortable with it and staff was helpful when needed. Free bike rentals was pretty awesome as everyone bikes around.

The hotel is in a very convenient location for sightseeing at Matsumoto castle and Nakamachi street. You can easily take a bus to other parts of town. However, the bed was very hard, the sheets were stiff, and the bathroom smelled fairly strongly of mildew. Ultimately, it was fine for a budget hotel, but not the most comfortable stay.

Great value at budget class hotel.

Although a little tricky to find (smart phone maps to the rescue) and located in a residential area, this low-key, budget hotel is well-suited for independent travellers. It’s probably the closest hotel to the fabulous Matsumoto Castle (make sure you go there at night for the illuminations) and nearby shopping district. The hotel is showing its age in terms of furniture and fittings but the bed was comfortable and bathroom spotless. Great staff too - and there’s free bike hire! A great value for money stay on the edge of the Japanese Alps.

Great location. The staff can speak English just a little bit but they have full of service mind. They also help me for the luggage forwarder to my next hotel. There is only heater in the room but during my stay, the weather is quite warm and no cooler is bad.

We arrived a few hours before check-in time and the staff were very friendly and accommodating. We booked a triple (2 king singles and a twin) and the room was relatively larger than we expected by Japan standards. The property looks a bit dated but more importantly it’s clean. Can’t beat it for value especially when trying to find rooms with 3 separate beds. It would even have been worth it for 2 people! We picked up the rental bikes at the front and were able to tour the city quickly. The area is cycle friendly, I would recommend riding over walking. We came to Matsumoto for the castle, which was only about 350m from the Inn. It is a further walk to the JR train station but it’s walkable even with luggage.
