Dirty carpet in common areas, dusty room. Hotel name on door doesn’t match chain name so you don’t even know if you’re in the right place. No care has been taken for maintenance or cleanliness

Good value for money

When I checked in to the hotel they gave me a room on 4th floor which was not well lit up. The main light and table lamps were not working. I immediately informed them and they assured me that by 7 pm they would get the bulbs changed. When I got back to the hotel by 9 pm the same was not done and the staff was very casual about it. I asked to speak to the floor manager and that’s when they allocated another room to me on the ground floor. There was no other issue after that. I expected better service from the staff members, if they were not able to get the bulbs changed they shouldn’t have come up with excuses and should have offered me another room immediately instead of arguing that they didn’t have another room and only gave it to me when I demanded to speak to their manager. Other than this incident the staff was very pleasant, courteous and helpful at all times. The room was cleaned everyday and my overall stay was very good. The hotel is centrally located, is close to the metro station, palace of justice and the city center area of Vieux port.

Worst experience

The hotel was in extremely bad condition and it looked as if it hadn't been cleaned for years. I arrived at 10pm approximately and was met with the only person working at the hotel who had no computer or internet and told me I had no booking there as he had nothing written down. I was on the phone for a long time before getting an alternative accommodation but this was the most stressful experience I had travelling and possibly at the worst and dirtiest of hotels.

Basic Room

Basic room with bed and private bathroom. If you are looking for a hotel that is no frills and walking distance to Notre-Dame de la Guard and the Port Vieux this is a good location. Lots of restaurants on the port and little patisseries up and down the street close to the hotel. Bring comfortable clothes and shoes. No views from the hotel. The reception team were very kind and helpful.

Great location just a few minutes walk to the vieux port. Smallish hotel anf freindly staff. Maybe could do with a bit of sprucing up but ideal for a short stay and reasonably priced. Also 1 minute from metro

Disapointed

Shower was so small that I couldn't even bend down to wash my legs. There was no parking facilities and had to use a public car park that didn't issue a ticket. The room had only 1 power point and that was after I unplugged the phone. The breakfast was 9 EUR for a basic continental not buffet and the flooring was slanted. The place was that bad that I decided to leave a day earlier and move on to my next destination.

Seriously, for that price the hotel is excellent. I have payed more money for horrible rooms, but this hotel is really cheap and the rooms are great. The two front desk guys are amazing and their service is very kind.

A few days in Marseilles, Hard Rock Cafe!!!!

Were given wrong directions on our E Mail from the hotel re the subway line to take. Hotel had no outside signage, when we finally found it, there are 2 other names of the same hotel, Check in was OK, room wasn't ready since it was before noon. Checked in a 15:00, up to the room with no A/C. Oh it worked, blew out 4 inches and that was it. Called from desk, told maintenance man was on vacation. I advised to call someone else, he would have to speak to manager about it.No other rooms to change to, yet Expedia was still booking this hotel on their web site? After a very hot day site seeing, air still not fixed but the hotel did put in a fan in our room. Asked about a ice bucket for a cold drink in our room while relaxing, told hotel doesn't have ANY ice what so ever. Really!!!!! One of the smallest rooms we have been in in Europe so far, no place to put luggage except on the bed while getting out your clothes. Shower had good water pressure but the shower head wasn't tight to the wall and sprayed all over, Manager never did contact us re A/C.

Great place to stay

Like many European hotels of its size and caliber, Adonis has a home-run feel to it. Some reviews will say the hotel is in poor condition, which is not true. It is well used and cared for; it will never be and will not pretend to be a big, fancy hotel. Not flashy at all, it is a fine example of what travelers wishing to see cites need: proximity to attractions, kind and attentive staff willing to provide local advice, and a place to return to for a good night sleep.

5 minute walk to Old Port

The hot water tank was broken so only cold showers available. Inconvenient but since it was 34 degrees Celsius, it wasn't a total loss. Staff were very friendly and offered free breakfast to compensate. Rooms are NOT soundproof.

Really disappointing experience. I turn up and am told that my reservation doesn't exist because 'they have a problem with the Expedia booking system'. I complain that I have paid and expect a room; they say there is no room apart from a single, which was dreadful. I ask if everyone has checked in yet, they say they have, even though there's a person waiting to check in behind me. They offer me a free breakfast, at least. All very disappointing.

Great location but very noisy

We got put in a ground floor room which is right next to reception and it was extremely noisy. People chatting loudly just outside our room until 2am and then starting again at around 6am. Reception and ground floor rooms (1 & 2) was separated by a door which was constantly being being opened and banged shut loudly. Was very hard to sleep. Was very easily accessed from the port though, and probably would have been good had it not been for a very bad room.
