Perfect except shower door

Everything, from location,the 600 yr. old building,cleanliness, breakfast and staff was perfect. The rooms (we stayed at 2 ) are comfortable. Only problem is no shower door or curtain exist. After a shower the whole bathroom is under water. We dealt with the problem by putting our used towels on the floor, not the best but the only solution we could come up with. A hard solution as the building is so old and there is limited space for the room and bathroom

On arrival I had to wait for an hour while my room was cleaned,a cup of tea would have been nice.big dusty comfortable rooms with battered furniture,must have seen some action over the years. a kettle but you have to bring your own tea/coffee! Average Turkish breakfast served on the terrace.dont expect any service whatsoever, didn't see any staff after 6pm,only the people from the city partying outside my room on the terrace until 2am,they must have kept everyone awake, nobody to tell them to keep quiet! Even on checking out I needed some advice on a taxi to the airport, nobody around! Spend a bit extra and stay at ulubey konegi,my advice!

3 Nights in Artuklu

My boyfriend and I stayed in the economic room the first night and upgraded to the Ottoman room for two nights, which we loved. Breakfast was small but decent and we ate on the terrace with a view every morning. The location was right in the heart of Artuklu, which was convenient, though not much was open due to lockdowns and covid restrictions. Our only issue with the hotel was that it was very cold in both rooms, the klima is either not big enough to heat the rooms or not strong enough. On the third night we were given an electric heater by the staff upon my boyfriend's insistence. Other than the temperature issue, I was quite happy with my stay.

Amazing Stay

Small boutique hotel. Nice cave like comfortable rooms. The attached toilet is a built in structure. The location is off the main road and have to walk through the lane to reach it. Need to carry your luggage, but a short distance.

Overall good value for what I paid. Although the staff didn't speak English, they were friendly and did their best to help. The room was nice enough however bathroom tap was broken and shower was in bad condition. Place was very clean, air conditioning worked, and breakfast was delicious. It wasn't a luxurious stay, but it was pleasant. My room is opposite reception which is a bit awkward as there was no sound proofing and so I could hear the 24 hour reception (and assumingly they could hear me).

Very disappointing

The building is very nice, and could be just amazing if the owners improved some really basic features that are completely lacking or simply insufficient. I have experienced two rooms: one double (supposed to be "superior", according to the receptionist) and one single (the only single room at the property, as I have been told), and both were extremely dark, without any window or opening for light and air. Artificial lighting was completely insufficient too, just one single light bulb on the ceiling with very low power, no other lights near the bed. Briefly, it was impossible to read in the room or even see where your own things were. The micro toilet was placed into the same room behind a moving panel, and the sink and shower were terribly smelling. Breakfast was quite poor too and service not very friendly and helpful. The price is low, it's true, but not worth at all, and I suggest to pay few euros/dollars more to get a much better and decent accommodation.

Not quite the quaint inn it proposes to be

It took me a while to find the hotel, as I was driving and followed Google Maps. This was my first mistake, as Google Maps does not reflect the fact that most of the streets in Mardin are too narrow for anything other than pedestrians to go down. When I finally arrived at the hotel, the concierge gave me a single room with no windows, despite the fact that I had paid for a deluxe room. It took arguing with him, despite showing my reservation details, to get him to put me in the correct room. The romance of staying in a traditional stone house is somewhat reduced when all the fixtures are cheap modern ones, but you should still expect that the cold and darkness of a stone dwelling remains. There was no hot water at any time during my stay, and the wifi is presumably free because it doesn't penetrate into the rooms, much the same as mobile signal.

DO NOT STAY IN THIS HOTEL

The hotel is not easy to reach, it is in the middle of the mountain of the old city and you have to go down on many stares. The hotel area is not clean and you can see the sanitation water everywhere when you get in/out the hotel. The staff is RUDE and can't speak any language but Turkey. The room needs maintenance - no light!!- and there is no mobile connection. The WIFI is very poor. What the owners write on Hotel.com about the hotel is not TRUE... there is no free tea and coffee in the room. The room is NOT CLEAN and the WC is smelly and not clean. I could not stay the three night in the hotel and I left after 2 nights.

Healing experience in the cave hotel

Good: Beautiful cave type of compound, kind receptionist, clean bed room in the cave with enough size bed, functioning toilet and shower, well-functioning AC, Reasonable room price, Beautiful landscape of Mardin from the cafe space on the second floor, good access to the tourist attraction. Note: - Sink had some problem, but it is fixed by a repair person. - Internet was relatively slow. - (not because of this hotel, but) it is better to note that not many shops along the main streets serve breakfast. You can find a few restaurant serves toast or chicken doner. If you go further to the bus stations, you can find some bakery shops.
