The vacation rental is located on the upper and attic floors of our house, just a few minutes’ walk from the harbor and the dike, making it the ideal place to unwind from everyday life and let your mind wander. It features modern furnishings with a maritime charm, state-of-the-art home electronics, and a sauna. Parking is available right in front of the house, and you can either store your own bicycles or rent the house’s bicycles.

Kitchen:

A spacious kitchen with a full range of equipment is at your disposal—unless you choose to dine at the excellent surrounding restaurants.

Living Room & Balcony:

From the large living room, which features hardwood floors, you’ll always have a view of the dike, the Schlei, and the Schlei estuary. There is a dining table for 8 people here, which can be extended to seat more than 14! It’s also perfect for all kinds of board games—as long as the view isn’t more tempting. The couch by the window invites you to curl up with a good book. The balcony, which is accessible directly from the living room, is just as good a spot for this. Even on rainy days, you can enjoy a fabulous vacation here.

Bedrooms, Bathrooms & Sauna:

The vacation rental features four bedrooms—three with double beds and one with two single box-spring beds. Both bathrooms have a shower; one of them also has a shower tray.
The sauna is accessible via the hallway and basement; it has its own shower and a separate exit for cooling off in between sessions.

Garden:

The large garden is accessible through the front entrance. There is a covered, wind-protected area as well as a barbecue available for guests to use. Depending on the season, fresh fruit, vegetables, and garden herbs can be picked directly from the garden.

Bedding (blankets & pillows) is provided. Duvet covers and towels are typically brought by guests. Duvet covers and towels can be rented separately as part of a linens package for 25€ per person. The beds are made up upon arrival. In addition to the duvet covers, the package includes one small and one large towel.
Dogs are welcome.
A charging station for your electric or hybrid car is available for a fee.

Surroundings:

The beach on the Schlei is a 5-minute walk away, and the dog-friendly beach is a 10-minute walk away. The large Baltic Sea beach is easily reached by bike (about 10 min) or by car (about 5 min). There is a surf school in town where you can take lessons and rent equipment (windsurfing, kitesurfing, stand-up paddleboarding). For the kids, there’s a large playground right near the harbor where they can run around and play. Deep-sea fishing trips depart regularly from Maasholm and are suitable even for beginners without their own equipment.
Maasholm offers many activities both on land and on the water. You can explore this beautiful region by walking, hiking, and biking (along the Schlei, over the dike to the nature and bird sanctuary, and further along the Baltic Sea). The Nature Experience Center (NEZ), within walking distance, offers both adults and children the opportunity to discover nature up close.
Our personal recommendation: The local fish smokehouse “Petersen” is barely a 2-minute walk down the street and serves fresh fish bites to the local community.
Other recommended restaurants are within a 2- to 10-minute walk.

The village has all the essentials right at your doorstep (bakery, small supermarket, hair salon, etc.). Larger supermarkets like Rewe, Aldi, and Edeka are a 10-minute drive away (in Kappeln).

The nearest major town, Kappeln, is a 10- to 15-minute drive away. Other destinations with shopping options include the towns of Eckernförde (about 30 minutes) and Flensburg (about 40 minutes). Or perhaps you’d prefer a trip to Arnis, Germany’s smallest town, located on a peninsula in the Schlei?
